Use a flasher for 4 way flashers, they will handle the load.

On most cars when a light burns out the flash rate increases (less load). I'm surprised that yours is going faster with increased load. Electronic flashers are supposed to be non-load dependent but I don't know how much load they can handle. Might be worth looking into.

on the semis up to 20 on some of the Grotes , my DD pick up I use a Grote 44540 electric/mechanical ( 570) and it flashes all 10 lights on the truck and trailer with no problems . and when I unhook the trailer the speed stays the same so no changing it out .

If it had one back light on each side before, and has two on each side now and flashes faster, then it probably has a thermal flasher. They work by getting hot, the heat makes the bimetallic strip "pop" off. If the load increases, they heat faster, so it will flash faster.

    Try a different flasher can.
