Looking to lower my 66 without breaking the bank! I've heard of the springs in the rear and cut springs in the back. Anyone have this setup already? First question is how does it ride? How low can I go without getting into alignment issues?
I'm just sure that you have been diligent and read the rules for posting here (1965 and earlier). I'm also sure that you made a typo and meant to say 60 to 65 c10. It's easy to strike that 6 key twice. If so, welcome to the HAMB.
I just lowered my `65 shortbed. I used HD 4" lowering springs in rear $125 from (summit). I cut one coil from front springs & it lowered aout 2-1/2"
I've lowered a few of them and it always ends up the same way, I want to go lower so I end up with bags...cpp sells nice lowering springs, I've gone 5 inches in the front and 7 in the rear without a c notch, rides "ok" just watch you rearend to frame clearance Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. I'm going to look into those springs. I found a set on ebay springs and shocks for around 300 but don't know of the quality. Here's what I've got now... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I was wondering the same thing... different strokes for different folks, right? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Those wheels suck something awful. Looks like a decent truck without them. '73-'87 front end swap is really easy for these and they really benefit from it. Good starting point.
That's the beautiful thing about building cars, trucks, bikes and whatever. Whatever makes the hair on your arms stand up when you look at it...do it......and if you see something you don't like...appreciate the wrench time someone put in, even if it's not your thing.. Just my thoughts anyway... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
You two guys ought to wrap your thoughts around what this website is all about, and those wheels aren't part of it. I'm not being judgemental, that's just a fact about this place. Big hoops and rubber bands are not pre 66 traditional. I assume you've both read this: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44274
I understand you point for sure, but the fella was asking about the stance of his pickup not weather or not anyone liked his wheels, stance of vehicles is something discussed on this site all the time. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Thanks for all the opinions on my wheels guys. (Even if it's not what I was asking about) Just so you can sleep at night I did end up changing them out for a set of Wagon wheels with beauty rings. I do like having some rubber up under my truck for sure. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
i just lowered one friday. e bay rear springs and shocks cut 1 1/4 coil off front lowered it 4 in back 3 in front still drives great customer was happy no to low to still use.
The wire wheels were temporary. I paid 75 bucks for them with tires. When I got the truck one of the rims were cracked. I couldn't turn them down for that price for the fact I wanted to drive it. They lasted about two weeks before I traded them for the ones I got now. Much softer ride. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
You know how much they were? You have a pic of the stance by chance? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

You can get drop springs for around 350-400. Cpp and early classic both sell a nice kit (among others that do as well ) that includes drop spindles, shocks and shock relocators. Those kits are around 700. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
