Hello all in the HAMB. Coming to you from Western MA. I joined in hopes of possibly finding some stuff for a newly purchased rat rod. I am also looking to see if anyone out there lives near Cedar Rapids Iowa as I am purchasing a rat and need to get it back here. Don't mind the 16 hr drive but that's a haul.

You have probably read a few of the posts here before joining(?). You do know that rat rods are considered ****boxes by all of us. yes? If you did not know this, well, you'll soon find out by way of the replies you get here. There are other websites for rat rods, this is definitely not one of them. Best of luck with your........r-r-r-rat rod.

Well thanks for the heads up Flatheadguy. Not looking to offend anyone on here. It was recommended buy other rod enthusiasts as a respectable site for info and great finds for sale.

    Welcome from Woburn!

Yeah, you basically said the worst cuss word on the HAMB 3 times in your first post there ;)

But I like to think when an aspiring Rat builder finds the HAMB, it leads them down a better path towards a better build.

Good to see that you didn't take offense at my previous posting. I agree that after you spend some time here and digest what is offered you'll very likely join us in this wonderful world of traditional hot rods and customs. They are SO cool!!

Welcome!! Careful I've been warned they're not too fond of the "Rat" word around here... But so far in my experience everyone here has been very helpful and offered insight and very good opinions when I've needed answers.. Cheers

I love it when rodders misuse "traditional" when they should say throwback. Don't get me wrong either. I love throwbacks and resurrections and recreations but the gr*** roots hot rodding tradition is all about taking what you can find and afford and making it into whatever you want. Bang for the buck: bangers gave way to flatheads gave way to SBC's. Stopping turns out to be important: mechanical brakes gave way to juice gave way to full floating gave way to disks. BTW, that all took place by the mid 60's. It's also meant thumbing you nose at those who don't like it like cops and old women who hate those loud, smelly old heaps those kids drive around too fast (I love being one of those kids at 55 and my 93 year old neighbor lady love to go for a ride too, open lake headers and all). So don't worry about those who don't get it and build what you want and you find help with that here, great. Just call it a "Rod" and no one will be the wiser. :)
