Thanks to some persuasive people on here (it's a good thing I'm thick skinned. LOL), I now own a rebuilt and detailed '55 Chevy 235 Blue Flame 6. No, I don't have any plans for it at the moment, but for the price I just couldn't turn it down. It's a thing of beauty, it was love at first sight. When I got there today to pay for it he already had it on the picker. The guy wasn't home but his dad was. He said he was surprised that his son sold it but had pulled it to go with a 350 in his '55 2dr. He also told me his son had found the receipt for the rebuild. Price...$3000.!!! Now, I have never had a motor professionally rebuilt, but that seems excessive to me. So, now it's got me thinking....what do I put it in? Model A sedan Highboy, late 40s-early 50s pickup, Volks Rod (now THAT could be cool)? Here it is.
Gal in my club built a hot rod around this 6. It was the same kinda thing...fresh rebuild being yanked for a belly button small block. Now she's decking it out with an offie finned valve cover, 2 pot intake and some chrome bits. Looks like hot rod fodder to me. JohnnyA
Oh, I forgot to mention ...I got him to throw in the Powerglide with it. It said it smelled "hot" so he pulled it too.
oh no, not a Chevy in a Ford. A Six with a 5 speed is a great combo - put in roadster PU or '55 Chevy, etc.
With an adapter. The roadster pick up I posted has a t-5 behind it. Freeway drivin all day long! JohnnyA
Stove Bolt 6's, nothing like em. I had, HAD!, a 53' Chevy 210 with a 62' 292 truck engine in it. Plans were to put a SBC in it's place. Well I didn't keep the car long, but had I and did do the SBC swap, I'd be kicking my self just as bad as I am now for ever getting rid of that 53' to begin with.
Nothing wrong with going Inline! I've been running a warmed over 292 six with 3 deuces, cam, headers and a T-5 for almost 20 years. Starts every time, runs cool, plenty of torque and the sound is.... great! I'm starting to see alot more interest in not going with the SBC.
Sell the PG and get a t-5, been running a '56 235, fentons for 17 years, dd, only vehicle. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m177/49Cosmo/aaaJune11011.jpg
replace a 216 in a Chevy car or pickup. And the powerglide may not be the worst consideration if you of somebody in the fam doesn't like to shift

If you can't decide on something to put it in, please let me know and I will come get it and you can double yer money. Just sayin...
Put it in a clean stock 50-54 wagon so your family can ride with you when you get groceries...and big parts for your nex hot rod.
