    Traditional hot rods, that is the question! What is a traditional hot rod? What year models are they confined to, what year model parts are they confined to, or parts market are they limited to. I'm confused, are you? Not to long ago you had to have a 1948 or older to show in the Street Rod Nationals. Who is the judge, The H.A.M.B, Street Rodder magazine, Hot Rod Magazine. Is there some kind of list some where? Don't know why I'm even asking as I know not many of you can agree on this information.

    This will start a **** storm but a the yr is not what makes it tradition. Its building a to a period of time that makes a car tradition. you can build a 40 chevy with early parts and it can be tradition, but aftermarket 17" wheel and it is no longer traditional (or maybe to the 90s).

    a traditional roadster can be built to a 1940's 50 or 60s standard and be traditional to that period of time. but generally the outside look best not have any modern parts for the most part. take a 32 ford and paint it lime green with boyd wheels and it is not traditional. put a set of Chrome reverse with whitewalls and it might take on a 60's period look depending on the interior choice. (tweed is traditional to the 80s or 90s, not before that, like white interior is generally per 60 (but that is grey line) and the 50s were known for white. Take a 32 ford roadster and leave it sitting high with bias ply tires, 16 inch steel rims and a flattie and good chance you got a 40s look or maybe a 50s. take a Model A sedan, lower way to much with the *** dragging and vintage wheel it is probably not traditional but had a nostalgic look (unless it has a cartoon look and then its just a modern interpretation of a traditional look)

    I guess you either understand it or you dont.. (its hard to explain)

    Got a sneaking feeling this will be deleted shortly but my personal opinion the nsra has never been traditional,street rod magazine just shows the flavor of the day.

    The Hamb is pre 65.

    Trying to stay within the confines of a look that was era specific. HRP

    What applies at other places is irrelevant to the HAMB... all that matters is what Ryan determines is traditional. It's his house...his rules not your rules...his rules. Start your own site but it might be a little lonely.:D I chose to accept his rules.

    I'm not going to delete this thread, but I'll close it with this - a quote from the man behind the curtain himself;

    For anyone still unsure, I would recommend consulting the "history" and "feature" threads in the focused sections;

    Traditional Hot Rods
    Traditional Customs

    Or the excellent posts on the main page
