Do you know what the story is with his Pekin yard? Did the state shut that one down too? You would think the state would be more interested in keeping small businesses instead of shutting them down or moving out of state.
you should know by now the state of Illinois doesn't think . thats why its screwed up as it is here . the city people do all the rule making and screw the little country people out with the B.S. , and grandfather clauses are not honored anymore , its more like who has the most money rules . seen many salvage yards disapear to so call clean the envirourment when the enviourment was doing fine , only to watch someone plow under several hundred acres and pave it with oil to go shopping . KInd of like th epeople who complained about us parking our old farm equipment in the woods . the only way you knew it was back there was to tresp*** ( posted) but the authoritys wouldn't prosicute them for that ..
I heard that Fountain Green was an entire town that was turned into a salvage yard. Anyone visit it back in the day?
There are still quite a few good yards around. Here is a list http://www.junkcarremoval411.com/Illinois-Salvage-Cars.htm
I would like to know where the "OLD" yards are. We have a lot of yards around the Chicago area. Mostly late model stuff.
There's a private yard with 30's to current stuff in Sandwich IL. It's by invite only. I have visited it several times
