Yea the ***le is cooler than my question. I have a 454 and don't know the year. Did an oil change and it looks like I am 2 quarts high based on the stick. How can I determine what is the right dipstick.

Barney... Always the right "dipstick" for the job.

Yeah, that's not what you were after. But you have to admit, you did pick the ***le for this thread ;)

If you know you put in the correct amount of oil then simply scribe the dipstick with the current level, then your good to go.

Go with what you know.... everything else is just smoke and mirrors, right?

If you added the correct amount of oil including the filter and checked the level after running the engine, mark where the oil registered on the dipstick and match it at a parts house. As long as you're sure that you added the correct amount for your engine and oil pan shouldn't be a problem finding the correct length

Agreed. That said I need to dump the oil and check for water. I have a small leak down on the cooling system (2 psi in an hr) and have had cooling issues. I'm hoping and praying I didn't blow a head gasket. Temp hasn't got crazy but has got hot.
