I once bought a remanufactured clutch set from a local place called Economy Clutch in 1976 or so. The $$ was right at the time, but it was never a strong enough clutch for the C30 truck it was in. Eyeball wise, it matched the old one 100% and was all nice looking. Lesson learned.. don't cut corners on driveline parts. Bob
Thank you Squirrel, HotRodPrimer, and Stu D Baker..... crawled underneath the truck this afternoon to pull the inspection cover to see if there was oil on the flywheel. There very well may be and I'll save that check for a different day. Only because Squirrel, HotRodPrimer, and Stu D Baker mentioned it, I reached up to verify the p***enger side rear engine mount bolt was tight......it wasn't. In fact, it was loose enough that I could turn it with my fingers. The driver side wasn't nearly as loose, but it too is much tighter now. Took it for a spin and the violent shaking is now gone, though it does shake ever so slightly. Color me embarr***ed and very thankful to have access to a forum like this.
Great discussion! I am having the same problem with my '53 Plymouth (recently installed a B/W overdrive). I'll update after we find /solve the problem.
