The only two vehicles that I have done true "diamond tufting" on were an 1800's horse drawn buggy and an 1800's horse drawn sleigh. Diamond tufting was a hold over from the furniture trade. Lot's of Victorian stuff was diamond tufted. The shop I started out with lo' these many days ago also done furniture. I hate doing furniture and don't anymore but it did give me a good background on various types of work.
I don't think anyone could pay me enough to do a complete interior in diamond tuft these days. Extremely labor intensive.
Tufting led to diamond s***ch as Rick mentioned. Easier and cheaper. That led to the embossed vinyl diamonds that everyone has seen as well as the imitation roll and pleat. I have not seen either in my catalogs and samples for some time (thank God).
I hate making ****ons and as you might imagine, it takes tons of ****ons.

Looks like this thread is beginning another time around.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]while trying to stay in the mid to late 50’s, I thought that diamond s***ching would fit, and besides I like the look.

Some of the greatest Kustoms were built to look more modern than their years. interior appointments were almost as important as exterior body modifications. It seemed to be a fine line between “enhancing the look” and going overboard with the whole concept and took it into a ridiculous conglomeration. Some builds withstood the test of time, other’s not so much .

Not exactly a professional quality job on the door, kick, and B pillar panels, but not bad for mine and Dads first time. It also helps to have a friend at work that can do the s***ching. Thanks Casey Jones! 10-4-17 pass door panel.jpg 8-30-17 package tray.jpg
