Starting to look at the brakes on my 1929 Sport Coupe which was juice brake converted before I bought it. Upon inspection it's a real bitza :). I've attached some photos and wonder if I can get some help on identifying what I have, and which way would be the best way to go. I know it's a bit of a mess but that's half the fun, isn't it? :)

    Thanks in advance

Those look like 39 to late forties ford drums, looks like hubs are top mounted.
Wheel cylinders are probably different size bore on each side.
Maybe some of the guys can add anything else.

The one front and one rear backing plates shown are '39-'41 style brakes with the adjustable lower anchors.

The two different style hub/drum shown are interchangeable, no cause for concern.

The '39-'41 used a different sized front wheel cylinder as compared to the '42-'48 brakes; but all the aftermarket replacements are the larger (later) size, which is not a problem if used in pairs.

Guess next step would be to pull the drums and check the condition, especially if the car is new to you.
