Gasser update

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, Nov 16, 2005.

  1. [IMG]A LOT of you have seen this and a lot of the comments have been:too quiet (junkyard [IMG]Pontiac 326 2BBL, Powerglide in it temporarily), where's the dash, why no fenderwell headers, etc. Here goes. MONEY, i finally got a little of it. Heads for the 421 SD Pontiac are being ported as i write this, when they return i'll CC them so i can choose the pistons (10ish:1), Solid Cam Kit is on order, Super T-10's under my bench, just got most the pieces to build fenderwell headers, My friend made these dash inserts yesterday, i installed the factory part of the dash today (see pics), and i hope to have it COMPLETED tomorrow.

    Hmmm....Pontiac motor.....tasty...

Here is a shot of my old Henry J with a nasty Poncho and fenderwells. I built flanges out of 3/8 plate and used a "box of misc bends" from Speedway. Nuttin to it.

    PS. Keep the sidetrim.

    No, wait...lose the sidetrim...

Oh hell, I don't know... *****n' little car though..

Here's an update for ya.I dragged this ol' POS home yesterday to turn into a "G***er".I nearly crashed my 32  the other day at the new track and decided to return it to street trim and build this instead.
I sure hope them corrupters Sam and Ron don't kick me out of the CSGA over it.:D LOL

Put a Big Block Ford in it and make it an early factory Prototype now that Ford owns Volvo. Keep us updated on the Build.

Ok I was going to keep my comments to myself, but... I grew up in the g***er days at my uncles dragstrip in western Pennsylvania. I don't have a problem with a g***er shoebox, but the altered wheelbase would have never been done on that type of car. I can live with it though, because it is your car, and you can do whatever you want, and it is kinda cool. But, what the hell is that obnoxious black plastic radio doing in the middle of that dash? I see so many people doing this, and it really iritates me. Hide it and stick with the time period you have chosen, don't mix it up.

  14. They "DID" do this to these cars, and other oddballs as well. 59 Elcaminos, 58 Mercs, you name it. Maybe they were'nt G***ers. I just use the term LOOSELY. They were Altereds i THINK. The radio? Well it was a compromise. I drive my cars hundreds of miles and i likes my music. Also, i like my car enough not to crash it while ****ing with some hidden radio.

Fit some '48 Ford parts to that Volvo. Narrowed grill, taillights, maybe a dash....

Hey Ron,As deep as possible and still be comfy in the car with my *** on the pinion and a Nash 5 speed shifter tilted over my right knee.LOL
I haven't really scienced it out quite that far yet but I'm thinkin in the back of my brain pan somethin' like 44" from rear end C to mid plate.
I've got this old aluminum front motor plate out of a boat that's been whining for a home and I think it has finally found one.
Are center seat and steer and stock rear end location and wheelbase okay for the G***er Wars?I didn't see anything about it one way or the other in your rules or rules of 2 other "sanctioning bodies" that I read.
