I love the Lincoln 175. It's a well-built machine. I went to Wyotech with lots of people using these machines on a daily basis and I never had a problem with a single one of them. (Tons of not-so-experienced students using them every day and no problems says a lot to Lincoln's quality.)

I have one of those too and a bigger AC/DC machine (I added a foot pedal and water cooled torch) from the same manufacturer. Both have served me really well for close to 10 years now - mostly sheet metal but I do heavier stuff with them too.

I'd love to have a Dynasty (used one on a trip to the US in 2008) but the local distributor puts a crazy mark up on Miller stuff making them more than double the cost of what you guys can get them for......

I have a miller 250 with bernard cooler works great, 2 years ago i was looking for something more portable , I bought a Everlast 200,, I was not sure about buying it, but it is a great machine with a better warranty than eastwood, Inverter Tig, I find myself using it more than my Miller,

I have a Lincoln Ideal Arc 250. Last of the copper core welders. Purchased it new in 1980 for $600 along with a Conley Kleppen water cooled torch. Had them so long that the expendables are getting hard to find..........Terry
    PS wouldn't part with it!!

I have an old Airco AC DC HI freq from the college when the instructor retired and they shut down the program. It's good for heavy tig work, and I can stick with Hi Feeq. A few years ago I bought a used Lincoln 255 Tig with thumb control water cooled torch, It will also do Ac& dc, aluminum, stick but takes a while to change cables. The Linclon has ac balance control, and pulse. It is a big heavy machine. I haven't done any thin stuff with it.

I'm just getting ready to weld up my whole frame...

    GONNA GET HOT!
Have anyone converted their TIG torch to water cooled?
AND run regular tap water through it..?
I can get the complete torch (WP18) with connectors for under 100bucks.
The Cooling / Pump device sells for $500 and UP.
    TEMPORARY
I plan to use this only when doing a lot of welding.

Fan was not needed. Even on heavy aluminum welding or extended welding:

  19. A Miller Dynasty 200 works great for me. I mostly do sheet metal and fabrication of small parts under 1/8" thick. It is slow, but I enjoy using it and now rarely use my Lincoln MIG.

It is probably too small to build a full frame, but that is something I would want someone who is a really good welder to finish weld for me.

I have a dynasty 200 and a little older dynasty 300. Just sold a sync 250. great machine. Both water cooled. Alot of money for a hobbiest though. If your not using them all the time.

  21. I used what they don't recommend, 50/50 mix green coolant/distilled water, seems to work fine, idk, chemical makeup is the same as the over-the-counter recommended torch cooler coolant. Never had any issues with it..

Have a miller synchro wave 300 and use green in the cooler for years. Used the glycol coolent on my ideal arc 300 at home and a fungus grew from being stagnant, cooked the cable fast when it clogged the hose.
Not to mention the white slime snake I had to clean out of it.
Both machines are old but use transformer technology, you have to hit it with lightning to kill them.
Using them both for 25 plus years,no problems.

Miller Dialarc 250 with Bernard water cooler. Been using this same machine more than 30 years and it still welds like new. Never had a problem with it.

I heard storys like this , when I had the shop it wasn't a problem as the unit got used atleast once a week , when I closed and brought the machine home , I drained the tank and just used distilled water and would drain it back into the jugs when I was done . also I added a surfacant to break the oxygen bubbles out of it . and a case of Distilled isn't that expensive , compaired to a fubared transfer line . I know of one guy who runs a water cooler that put a DI filter ( deionized water) on his supply line to top the unit up . no mineral scale or iron problems .
