I am looking for a 46 Ford coupe that was chopped, channeled and sectioned by my dad in the late 1950's (East St. Louis area). I do not have any pictures of the car but I have some details. The car was cut and welded back together but practically no finish work was started. There was really no interior and you would have needed seat cushions to sit in the thing as there was really no room left for a conventional seat. The car was built in Collinsville, Illinois in 58 or 59. My dad was building a house and raising kids and lost momentum on the coupe so it sat in the yard. A couple "young" guys asked about the car one afternoon and a deal was struck. It was sold in 1959 I believe and dad never saw the car again. He never saw it hit the streets and had no idea if it was ever completed. My dad p***ed away in 2002 so I can't get any more details. I am curious to know if it still exists in any condition or if anyone has any ideas...... thanks in advance to any and all who read this and try to help. -Bob
I have a bit more to add if it helps...... the address where my dad lived, built and sold the car was 208 W. Johnson St. Collinsville,IL. The car may have been sold a bit earlier than I stated but had to be right around 1958 give or take...... The house was one that was under construction as he was building it himself and he also had a red with black top 1949 Plymouth convertible with a missing right front fender at the residence. You never know what info may kickstart someones memory.....
Anyone? It is quite possible the car was never completed and s****ped later on, it is also possible that someone else took credit for the build and someone has the car not knowing the truth............
