Hey all, I am posting this up-date for my friend Don of Sr. Dragster fame For some reason he is no longer able to post on this forum. He wanted me to pass this along. Don has up-dated his /6 dragster from 1 x 4bbl to 2 x 2bbls All in an effort to continue his domination at the Arm Drop Drags in Picton, Ontario. ;-) The event is May 17, 2014 http://www.armdropdragracing.com If anyone has questions about his build I can pass them along or better yet, show up at the drags and if he does not have his race face on ask him yourself.
Thanks for the updates! I like what Don has been doing and all the effort he put into his posts in the past. Thanks Don and Dodger1
Thanks for that. Don is sure the real deal. I forgot to mention he made the intake, but the guys who know him figured that out already. I have see this car run and it's fast, real fast! Don has this thing tuned right.
If it's just a password or something I'm sure the mods could help. Why can't he post? I miss Don's posts, he's a smart guy and a good writer.
Also miss Don Dolmetsch's posts. Wondering whether he's had time to devote to the 318 poly. He's always thinking and experimenting, that guy.
Hey thanks for that i'll pass it along. I love Don's approach to building too, it's very zen like. As far as posting Don is not sure why. I know he has made attempts, but with no luck.
Don has been a great help to me on my dragster build. Always gives full answers to my many questions sent via PM.
Glad to hear everything is ok. Sent him a pm awhile back to see what was up got no response. We miss his posts.
Don has a new email addy ,but i won't post it here. Tell Don Larry said that won't work. He will know what i mean. Larry
If you don't edit your email address in your profile, then you forget your password, it won't send you a password to your new email account. He would have to re-register with a new user name, I think a moderator could possibly be able to fix his existing account with the help of a trusted member so he can keep his same user name.
Hey guys i'll pass this along. I have asked him to write something down and i'll post it. I can't speak for him, but I know Don is the Real Deal. We all have our opinions, I know Don does and I also know Don is one of the few who speaks from experience. If Don reaches out and whats to connect i'll post it. Peace.
Intake is installed , linkage made fuel hooked up and it is running. I had two minor header leaks, pinholes which I repaired. Need some decent weather so I can try a launch . If it doesn't bog it should be good otherwise. Used 72 jets for a baseline. Would like to be sure all is good before going to Picton Airfield May 17. Again we are on the same day as our friends at Eagle Field. Been also working on an attempt at building the passive supercharger design pursued by GM in the very early 60s, about 62 I believe. Carl from down east found the article I had mentioned several years back and was kind enuf to send it to me last week. I got approx. measurements using paint and its pixels then used them to get hard dimensions in inches. Got it about 1/2 done. If it rains tomorrow I will do some more on it. Very interesting idea. Read about it when I was a kid and it always stuck in my mind. don
Dragged it outside today and rechecked everything. I fired it up after refueling, warmed it to full heat 160F. I found some pavement and did a short "Rocky" toymaker style road test. Linkage works smoothly. Engine came up on the converter well (took it to 4000rpm) I turned it loose. Power came on smooth and strong. Nothing more to do but wait for Picton Airfield May 17 race. New headers are loud. Sounds more like a big block then a six. don
