  2. Hello and welcome to the HAMB..

  3. Hello,

Back in the 1960's my Dad had an idea to drop the 1936 Ford three window body at least six inches. So they cut the frame front and back. Braced then moved the frame sections up the height of the frame rails. Fast forward mid 2008, when the 392 Hemi engine was dropped in the lowered frame (with a four inch front axle drop...) The Car sat very low.

Just after we tried this, my father died of a heart attack at my Mothers side on her death bead.

So 2014, I wanted to try to finish the car with thought of my father smiling on the first test ride.

I didn't want to go the air suspension route. So I returned the frame to 1936 stock dimensions. My father and I had tried to crop in a early Chevy Camaro 12 bolt rear using the 1936 rear single spring. But as you know the drivetrain centerline, rear offset with this set up is not very good. So I will narrow / center up a spare 8 3/4 Mopar rear. Then I'm thinking of grafting on a spare Dodge Ram front suspension. Hay I know I could just spend 10K for a new rolling frame, or use the on hand single leaf, king pin set up. But even with aluminum heads, water pump, intake. The 392 is a good size power plant.

I have read and looked at other members handiwork on other 1936 Ford three window coupes. Rest easy, my basic ability's are all self taught. I weld a little then grind a lot. My time is free, plus as you can see time is no object... Sometimes you have to go backwards before you can move forward. These pictures are not from my two car garage, I was able to use a friends shop with the help of a few friends.

Well back to the grind. Cheers, Earl

  4. Hello,

Today I tried to rebuild / replace the missing rear 18" of the 1936 Ford Three window coupe frame. Now the overall length is back to stock 1936 frame dimensions. Yes it was hard to squeeze a pigeon  to produce those pigeon crap welds.

Though I think, I still need to make the right and left corner frame brackets. That are behind the rear frame corners? Not having any thing for reference... I don't know?

My hat is off to the metal smiths that are all but building a good percentage of their 1936 Ford Three Window Coupes from scratch.

After five plus years of looking does any one have any leads on a spare set of rear 1936 Ford Three Window Coupe steel fenders? I have a bunch of Mopar BB engines and other stuff to trade or cash.

As the original fenders on this car were stolen :mad::mad: when the car was in locked in a barn in storage. When my Dad was alive I was able to find a pair at a swamp meet. But. He thought $400.00 in (2004) for the pair was crazy, when he paid less than that in 1960 for the complete car. He said he would go back the next day and make the guy a reasonable offer. But they were long gone.

    Those were the days.

  5. Second try,

    Enjoy.

  6. Thank You Lothienwilly71 for the welcome.

Your area is nice for Carlisle, Englishtown, NJ. Hershey.PA car shows and swap meets where I was a vender.

    Cheers Earl
