Over dinner recently, an older acquaintance that I don't know very well asked me, "What are your favorite five cars that you've owned?" I had to think a while, and the cars that came up surprised me a little. The ones that were the most fun, and the most dependable (not the same) were not the most memorable ones, at all. In fact, the only HAMB-friendly one of the bunch is my Shoebox Victoria! I've had other HAMB cars that I think were cool looking, or fast, or rare, but they really weren't among my favorites. I was surprised. I'm bringing this up merely because it really was a fun conversation, and I recommend it for the next time you're with your buddies or just any bunch of car guys. So, here's my one-of-one favorite HAMB-friendly car:
I have only ever owned 5 five cars in total, so it's a little difficult for me! I did have two favourites which were not HAMB friendly, one of which is a little surprising as the gear lever came out in my hand as I was going from 2nd to 3rd on a freeway. It was bumper to bumper and I was on the inside lane at the time, but that's another story. I did like that car though.
My favorite 5 are not all HAMB friendly. 1940 Chev coupe gasser with 413 Mopar, 727 trans. 1955 Chev 150 coupe gasser with 283 and 4 speed. 1971 Chev Camaro 427. And the two I own now. '46 Austin gasser 355/th350 '63 Falcon gasser 464 BBC/ST10 4 speed.
