I'm talking about my 29 willys body... what did you think I was talking about!?!?
I picked up this willys body off ebay...

I had a 31 model A running and driveing, minus a body... so for the time till I get to building a lake style racer with a flat head and 4 spd. I built a "Banger" yard car. Only problem was that a 29 willys is 4" longer than a ford and 3" wider. Nothing an cut off wheel and welder won't fix. :)

Also found out that "Hillbilly4008" built the body from just about nothing... his thread is on here somewhere. Any way, I started by cutting the body in half and starting with her fat ass... I took a 1-1/2" down to 0, on each side. Here is a pick with one side done.

After that I decided to channel it about 5" and just layed it on the frame... couldnt close the doors because it was also about 3" too long, too.

After it looked pretty good I cut the doors to fit, closed it up and made a frame and floor.

side view... starting to look better already :)

Next I put a 65 Mustang rad and channeled the grill to fit even. I also made a wheel and tire swap to match the rest of the rust for now. Threw on a model a hood to keep the rain out of the carb and called her done. This car is far from done, but till I get the money and time to do what I want. My kids and I have been having alot of fun with it. I'm giving them some good memories instead of just having the body sit in the barn. I guess thats a good thing...

I was able to get a running 52 flathead, trans, and drive shaft. Also came with a really nice 29 roller (frame) today. The guy also through in a set of mounts. I just have it sitting on a chain so I could get it home. This will be perfect for the roadster. I'm going to keep the banger and chasie under it now for my speedster project in the near future. hopfully lol Now I just need some time and I should have a pretty bad ass willys roadster that was left for dead somewhere in the woods in New York.

Man, I kick myself everytime I see you post. You sir...are an A-hole:D

Just a side note, I know that the VIN tag and grill shell are still out in those woods. That is IF you ever want to register this as a Willys Whippet. The guy can be "difficult" to deal with, unless you have deep pockets. I'll give you his # if you want, shoot me a PM. Yard is closed till late spring.

    Damn nice Av8 Willys

  14. Driveway builder,

I'm sure that I've asked this already, but where are you in PA? The area in your pics looks very familiar (I grew up in Narberth).

The Willys looks great, by the way!

Looks very nice in it's cut-down proportions, which I wouldn't have believed without seeing it. Very nice work on that.

Finally got this thing done... I ended up trading the flat head for some thing else, so that decided the fate of the roadster. It's staying a "banger" and I'm cool with it. It's a lot of fun going slow to be honest. lol I just painted it this weekend and tried to use a old looking two tone paint scheme. I think it turned out perfect. Hopefully I will get to race this thing this October on the beach at "The Race Of Gentlemen"... If not, I will put some tags on it and try to race it on the street against people on bicycles. HAHAHA ;)

Great job! I like how you kept it basic and didn't go over the top. There's plenty of show cars out there, there's nothing like a nice driver. Excellent work! :)

I like it. I'd drive that. They'll do highway speeds with an overdrive, nothing wrong with a flat 4.

Thanks... that's exactly it. I could have put a ton of money into it and have it still be sitting in the garage. I always liked the old pics of jalopy's and thrown together speedsters on a lot of threads on here. I already have cars that are fast and loud with v8's. This thing is a lot of fun and have no real money in it at all. And above all, it looks really cool sitting in the barn. :D

Wow, Hillbilly. I thought Larry did a good job cutting the Willys down to Model A size. You sir did a great job getting the Body to actually be a body. Great Job!

I couldn't tell you... I found two brackets that look like it could have been for a roadster or maybe for a convertible top or something in a pile of parts. Since I wanted the stripped down race look I never cared if the would work or not, I just thought they looked cool and who else has a 29 Willy's to say they are wrong. haha I think they look perfect, they even have a cool lean to them. ;)

And thanks to "Hillbilly" for pulling it out of the woods and starting the resurrection of this old girl... she's far from perfect, but what jalopy is?
