After a 5+ year absence from model building, I returned to the model car club (MAMA) that I joined over 8 years ago. Yesterday was the November meeting, and after getting a chance to reuinite with friends I hadnt seen in years, I was convinced to start up again, so here is my first effort in 5 years. The kit is the AMT 1951 Chevy Fleetline. I dont know how far I plan to take the whole build, but I probably wont do a full engine and drivetrain detail due to much more limited time than I had years ago. I just started the chop today, doing about 3.5 scale inches.

Actually, those are sterling silver cones I scored while accompanying my wife at the local bead store - like $4.50 or so for eight of 'em. Those are the last four I had, so I guess I need to go with my wife again the next time she makes the trip.

Sorry for running over a day, but I cant put this new project down. I guess this will be a long term project for me, a few months on the bodywork alone. I started the addition of the 56 Packard taillights tonight on one side, most of the surround is there, and the Replicas and Miniatures Co. of MD, taillights lock right into the surround I made from sheet stock with no glue. Tomorrow Ill get the other side to the same state that this side is in, the drivers side alone took about 4 hours. There is alos a piece of .040" plastic sheet stock added to either fender, as the old AMT kit fender width is out of scale, and dint look quite right, these pieces will be blended. There will be a lot of filler and sanding work, as I want the Taillight housings to fit in seamlessley, building the perfect model is just as time consuming as our real cars. Nex sunday Ill be turning some frenhcing buckets and headlight trim rings from brass and aluminum stock, so Ill be sure to post a lot of pics of that process.

Any side shots of that puke green '32?

I'm surprised they didn't make the builder of that '36 rat rod cover up the "fuck," usually the model crowd is a bit too tame for that...bunch of old timers!

edit: haha, i hadn't seen your post on the HHMB yet. case in point!
