I have a GMC truck cab and doors, and nothing else. From what I can tell it is from 1934 to 1938. Is there any way I can find out what year exactly it is from? I will try to post a picture soon.
34 to 36 mid year were tall cab and full of wood and the later 36 were low cab then by 37 they were low cab and all steel. Hope this helps
Thanks Rusty. Here are some photos. What parts would be wood? There are some parts missing from the cab. Floorboards and the inner panel behind the seat. And no dash. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
It looks like a 36 cab; which is similar to the 37/38 Chev/GMC cab. If there is wood in the door post or across the inner upper cowl area under the windshield it would be a 36 cab. Do you have a picture of the rear of the cab, I want to see where the placement of back gl*** is located.
Actually, I was looking for a photo of the outside from the rear. But, like I said before, if you have wood in the door posts it's a 36 cab.
No wood in the door jams. This truck is most likely canadian if that makes a difference. I did a bit of research and the gas filler tube goes through the body. Which people say makes it a 38. I think. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
The 36-38 Chev/GMC cabs all had steel door jams, the front door posts on the 36 cab were wood. The gas tank filler on the 36 Chev was under the bed, on the 37 it was under the seat and on the 38 it came out behind the door on the right side. The placement of the rear window in the 36 cab was 4" above the belt line, it was 2" higher on the 37/38 cabs; which makes this dimension probably the easiest to use to determine the year on these cabs. There are more differences though.
So the window is 6" above the belt line, there is no wood in the jams, the tank is under the seat and the filler tube goes through the body. 1938. You guys are great thanks for all of your input. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
