in an attempt to do some "outside the box" thinking, i was wondering how this harry bradley idea would look on my car.....i recently chopped it, and was limiting myself to just three options on the b pillars: 1. straight posts 2. slanted posts 3. hardtop .......it's not that i'm necessarily opposed to any of these options, but i remembered some concept drawings for a hudson harry bradley had done a while ago....the b pillar in the bottom pic shows his idea,,,i really like the way it looks, but just cant picture how it would look on my car,,,,can any of you photoshoppers give me a hand? it may look great,,,it may look hideous,,,need to see for myself......in the old days, i would have just gone ahead and welded something up, but i'm trying to think things through a little more this time..
wow!,THAT was QUICK...THANKS!...not sure about it,,i need to visualize it with a door gap (and the window frame on the front door reattached,,,the wider opening without the window frame is throwing my eye off),,,it MAY be cool..dunno yet
Love the way it looks with the way Chaddilac did it. In my opinion, really compliments the very curvy lines the car has already.
I like it, it's different, has a slightly space-age flair to it. Makes me want to do that with my '53.
The reason it works on the original rendering is because it lines up with the vent/gill in front of the rear wheel. Without that detail it's just an odd looking, chunky B pillar.
In my opinion it doesn't look good at all. Why make an interruption in the flow of the window frames? It's like sticking a giant heartbeat graphic in the middle of you car.
yes, big a, i know the slant of the window frame mimics the scoop angle,,it also is the same angle as the front wheel opening....it looks GREAT on the hudson,,,still mulling it over,,,
My '53 has those slanted rear quarter bumpouts. If you don't do this, I really want to steal the idea, or at least photoshop it onto my car to see if it works well.
Well,that looks like a bit weird to my eyes.I think the hardtop idea could be better.Just my 2 cents...
My 2 cents... No disrespect to Mr Bradley but to my eyes it doesn't even look that good on the Hudson. Regardless of what it lines up with,ect. It just breaks up the flow. Thinking out of the box is great. Doing something just to be different can be not so great sometimes....... Having said all of that, If you like it go with it. You are the only one you have to please. keep at it as we are all watching your progress. Torchie.
one or the other but not a combo of both. looks wierd. be different and do a vertical post. seems all you see are slanted ones these days.
Even on this drawing I think the rear 1/4 window would look better with the same angle on the front edge.
The traditional slanted B pillar OR the hardtop look is the way to go. The "space age" B pillar idea is painful to the human eye.
Lord man ......by the time you fix the rear It'll just be a slanted b pillar...... Come outta the box .....think of some different way to do it.... I think it will be fine if the roof line is longer Different ....but neat... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
a little more progress on the roof.... (still looking for a local donor roof skin to fill in the "redneck sunroof" that was cut into the car when i got it)....got the rear window angle figured out,,,,,did some slicing to make it work.....almost decision time....ruled out the harry bradley idea.....leaning towards a hardtop,,ala buster litton ford......not sure what i will need to pull something like that off though,,,probably convertible window frames...or maybe victoria window frames??? what did some of YOU guys do when you hardtopped a shoebox??
