The fuel pump is missing from the 331 Cadillac engine that I'm putting in my roadster. The original is a dual diaphragm, but I don't need the vacuum provisions. Can anyone speak to whether a later model fuel pump without the vacuum provision will fit and function? ............slide
I put a used fuel pump from my 59 Caddy on my 50 Caddy, no vacuum provision at all. Fits and works fine. Edit: Rock Auto has them : Airtex #713 Curly
Not a problem ... you should be able to buy it at any good auto parts store ... was able to buy a new one through CARQUEST up here in Canada for my 1954 Cadillac ... AIRTEX Part # 4269 (RockAuto)
Good question. I'm building a 331 for my 34 Chevy and would like to run a high volume mechanical pump.
I checked a fuel pump for a small block Chevy. It will bolt up OK, but the pump arm is different. Not sure how the arm could be changed.
I've bought two of them at my local auto parts store. They have to order them but usually I have them the same day.
