Technical 1952 f-1 transmission

    I should post pics but I always have problems with it. Wondering what trans I have. It came from a 52 f-1 and it has a large drum coming off the tail. I believe it's a four speed, what's it worth and is it good for anything? Thanks

    I believe you have the heavy duty 4 sp. I think that drum is a PTO or part of a attachement.

    Is good for anything, yes. For a work truck or industrial application. As a daily, that 1st gear is so steep, its really a creeper gear.

    With a large drum on the rear (your emergency brake) it probably didn't come from an F1 originally. They used a cable e-brake with a lever under the dash. F2 and up used the drum setup on the trans output shaft.
