Technical Ford v8 Wire Wheel to 4.5 Bolt Rear

Is there a special adapter to put a 16" wire wheel with a 5 to 5.5 bolt pattern to a 4.5 bolt pattern rear end? I know the make the adapters but will a standard one fit a wire wheel????????

 

It is easier if you have small brakes. I run a Maverick rear and wheel adapters to run 40 style wheels. I was surprised when I tried a wire on the car. It fit just fine except I would need the support rings. 9" rears have larger brakes and would require much thicker adapters.

 

Anyone else ?

You have to have the support ring or have the support ring machined into the adapter though. Tweaked wheel centers result if you don't have those.

There are a few oddball adapters out there like Suzuki to Nissan or vice versa that will fit. Try eBay or Google search. Will still need the rings.

 

Is the support ring just for wire wheels or also 1940 type wheel also? Thanks.

 

The rings are just for the wire wheels on later style drums. No need with 40 wheels.
