The last thing I need to do to finish my wiring is to make the brake lights work and I can't seem to get it. I have a white wire in the turn signal group that says brake lights. Then I have an orange wire and a white wire that both of them say brake switch. Can anyone lend some ideas? I ave park lights, signals, hazards but no brake lights

One of the brake wires is the hot side the other the cold side. Cold side goes to the brake lights. You should also have one in the turn signal group marked brake

Positive, from fuse box, goes into the brake switch (the one at the pedal) then goes out and into the one going up into the column.

I just finished this up but I'm at work now. I emailed rebel and had a response almost immediately. They were extremely helpful and I give them a A+ on customer service.
I'd give them a call or email.
If you still haven't figured it out later this afternoon shoot me a pm with your number and ill go look at mine for you.
Only issue I had was getting the indicator on the switch arm to light up.
It needs grounded first off, second the rebel harness is set up for individual indicators.
I wanted just the one. If you tie them together to the indicator on the switch they will back feed and both blink. I got a couple diodes and put them in line and it worked fine.

Another option for the single indicator light is to use a three prong flasher. I just snapped one of the unused wires into the flasher socket on the fuse panel. If I recall, you need to swap positions on the other two, but it was easy to convert to a three prong flasher with pilot light and now the single turn indicator works. Maybe Rebel could include this in their instructions (hint), it was a simple deal and only took a couple minutes.

yes, there is a white wire in the turn signal group that says brake lights, but I'm unsure of where to tie it into in the signal switch. I have a Signal Stat 900 Signaflare switch on my column

The white wire in the turn signal group should go the red wire on your signal stat. Then the other white to one side of the brake switch and the orange to the other side. That is how I wired mine and it works as it should. I'm using an Easywire harness but same colors as the Rebel kit for those wires, also using the a signal stat switch.

I used a rebel wire kit. cant remember a brake light wire in the column set. Though It may have been there, just wired them accordign to the 70s gm steering column I have. The switch wires just went to the switch, may need to swap them side to side if having issues.
Also, sure the brake light bulbs are good and wired in?
Call or emal the guys if you still don't have it figured out. I had a bit of an issue with my harness popping fuses (my fault) and they helped walk me through the issue and were super helpful (im an electrical *****!)

Cant say if they're the same but I am wiring a 40 Ford with a Kwikwire kit. I have an orange & wht siamesed marked brake switch. Its the wire FROM the brake switch to tailights (white) and the orange goes to the 3rd brake light.

I ended up contacting Rebel as well. one of their great tech guys e-mailed me back to tell me that the white brake light wire goes to the black/grey wire coming out of the signal switch. I didn't realize that the key had to be turned on in order for your brake lights to work. After we got that figured out, we also found that the brake switch was pooched. It's all good and working now.

Thanks for all the tips folks

Brake lights shouldn't be wired through the ignition switch. They should be hot, whether the key is on or off.

Odd to have it wired through the ignition for brake lights. I've got a NW Autowire, and a Speedway (Painless) and both work with the switch off for brake lights.

If you call Rebel wire, they will spend an inordinate amount of time to help you track down your woes. Their customer service is well worth the lacking of instructions they provide. Ill buy from them again just for the help on the phone!

I will be ordering another harness from them when we get to tat stage on our 58 GMC build. I was impressed with all aspects of their product and their customer support

I'm having the same problem, no brake lights. No power in the orange wire, no power at the lower flasher terminals, and I didn't have a white wire coming out of the box either, just one for the Alt exciter. I just ran another wire from the other terminal on the switch to the signal wiring , but still no power or brake lights.

Yup, that's the first I've heard of having to have the key on - every other kit I've used the power is always at the switch.

We have several issues going here.
    1. OP seems to have figured out fused always-hot power to brake light switch. Other side of switch out to brake light circuits OR to brake light input of turn signal switch.

    2. Separate power circuit (usually switched) for flasher input. Flasher output to turn signal flasher input. Output will only flash under load (when connected to a bulb or bulbs)

    3. In cars with one double filament bulb on each side, turn signal switches send current from either input based on position of handle. No turn - power to both rear bright filaments (brake lights) come from brake switch. Left turn - left rear bright filament and front turn signal filament gets power from flasher, right from brake light switch, if brakes are on.

On some of our kits brake lights are wired as newer cars, key needs to be in on position.
Orange brake switch power and white brake switch to brake switch.
white brake light ( in turn signal bundle ) to turn signal switch.
