Anybody out there done this conversion and what did you use. I don't really want to lower it with new spindles, just make it stop more better. Thanks, in advance for your help. Mike.
he he he sorry I dont have an answer for ya, I just thought it was pretty friggen funny.......seeing as I just got the ol' **** brakes as well....(she's not feeling good )
Try master power brake, they probably have a disc kit you can purchase.. really should consider lowering it though. You may get a nose bleed sitting up that high
Still looking for disc brake ideas, might even consider going with the droped spindles if any one knows of these. Thanks.
'53 Lincoln has a ball-joint style front end, right? i would 1st remove the spindle from your car and make sure the taper is the same as other FoMoCo products. then i would measure the height of the Lincoln spindle and head for the junkyard and start looking at late model Ford spindles.
Try Scarebird Mechanical out of Seattle. They've got adapter bits made up for all kinds of off the wall swaps, might even be able to make somthing up for you.
how close is lincoln to ford/merc stuff? http://ecihotrodbrakes.com/early_ford_discbrake_conversions.html
Holy ancient thread, batman, but it appears cornernfool is still around and still has the car. Did you ever find a solution? I thought this was a clever idea. It would be great if something like an F150 spindle swapped in.
I ended up taking the factory spindles out to ABS in Orange, Ca. They made a set of plates along with F/E150 rotors and GM Calipers for me. Narrowed the wheel track from 61.5 to 60", which is the same width as the 9" I put in it.
Do you have any pictures of the disk setup??? I want to take disks onto my 54 Capri and have to build everything by myself ´cause here in Germany it is not so easy to find Lincoln parts
