I don't know if someone already post something about this: Nov. 18, 2005 'Zero' hour for Favreau at Columbia Jon Favreau By Tatiana Siegel Following on the heels of their recent "Zathura" collaboration, Columbia Pictures is back in business with Jon Favreau. The multihyphenate is on board to write and direct the action drama "Johnny Zero" for the studio. The story chronicles the birth of the hot-rod movement in the years after World War II. Favreau is a self-described hot-rod enthusiast. "I've always been intrigued with the culture and music of the postwar period," Favreau said. "The birth of hot rodding marked a new chapter in the American dream." http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001524480
Great to see Hollywood is interested in covering the early hot rod years.......hopefully this film project get's off the ground in the near future. Can't remember the last time there was a good hot rod/drag race movie made dealing with our type of rides (no rice involved) in the last 15 plus years. Thanks Etienne!
hope this doesn't make our **** even more expensive to buy and harder to find. every johnny come lately wanting a traditional hot rod or worse yet, a "rat rod". kind of like the movie "*******s" made all those yahoos want to learn to dance and wear dumb suits ya know. still be anxious to see what it's like though. it would be nice to have a good new movie with good cars and good music for a change.
Gotta wonder bout his directing though, he hasn't really showed any talent in that field. IE: Elf... I hope its good, but I doubt it will be...
I don't know my brother, it may be a blessing. All that good hotrod stuff getting pulled out of the dark garages and dingey sheds all over the country, soon to be parted with when mainstream america finds out that you have to work at our style of cars (even when you think it is finished) vs. putting a bodykit and a coffee can on it. There is nothing glamourous about our lifestyle, it will take them a while to understand that, and after they get their belly full of it, we'll swoop in and reap the tin and magnesium rewards. Gabe
Gabe, I tend to agree however, how badly mualiated will the tin/magneisum will be? Some parts are irreplaceable including whole cars especially in the hands of idiots. IT my expand our hobby to the young, which I am included!!! WE CAN ONLY HOPE IT BRINGS NEW BLOOD!!! However, I hope this movie just doesnt tear up any old rods...its not like you can roll a "junk" '32 or whatnot. As rodders we can fix just about damn near anything, any rust any pannel...While a Charger or a Yenko Camaro SS (I have wanted a Charger since I was 5 literally, have been searching for a affordable rusty one to fix, its a outside rodiin fetish of mine...) is a "like" a sacrifice compaired to an old rod (aka Fast & Annoying 1 & 2) Why the **** can they roll a civic. There's only a billion or so.... "Fastlane" for example...the short aired FOX show with fast cars hot chicks and cl***ic muscle was totally a *****in show but they destroyed at least 1 or 2 old muscle cars which horrified me every time I watched it but I loved it none the less!!! Lets just hope they use steel cars for the scenes and Gl*** cars for the stunts!!!!!
Does anyone know how to get a message to him? I know he was once working on a drag race idea a few years back- I wanted to get in touch with him- now even more with this new project. Thanks Jim
My two cents on those Jap cars with body kits, goofy tall wheels, goofy tall tires & gross sounding exhausts. The only purpose those *****s serve - in my opinion - is keeping the good stuff somewhat available for the "Normal Car Guys"... Gary 4T950 Chevy Guy
