I came across this site some time ago when I was building my chopper. Now I'm building a lakes modified style open car and I got this crazy idea to put some simple wheels like these on it. The guy will machine any bolt pattern for about $65.00 per wheel. I was thinking of using 17" x 3.5" front and 18" x 5.5" rear. http://www.cv2customs.com/prodwheels.html What do you think? Finish wise I was thinking of painting them or bead blasting them for an "as cast" look. Nothing machined into the face but bolt pattern! Motor
Where did you come up with $65 a wheel? I see average price of $170 per am I missing something??--TV Or was that just the bolt machining cost?
are they heavy? heavier than slotted for sure, but how much i wonder? like the bead blasting idea, a lot.
$65.00 is additional to machine the bolt holes as per your spec. The major issue I see with using these wheels is that there is no control over back spacing. The centers are centered. Not an issue for as narrow as I want to run but if you want to go wide, that would be an issue. Motor
I think these things are going to be the balls. I figured I could always throw them um on the mill if I wanted to machine anything into them. I think it's funny that Tim Conders post got BTTT and his sketch has the same tyle wheel. I had not seen it till last night. Motor
the only thing I liked about Boyd's show was the smoothie roller wheels they had on the buildup cars. I like these.
That's a cool idea. I think bead blasting makes more sense than paint. Low maintainence is a good thing. There's always someone on the HAMB thinking up cool shit! We're really lucky to have a forum like this.
I was thinking about the same wheels the other day,18s are also out there! I think they would be REAL sweet in a gray color like Magnesum.
