Coming back from turkey dinner we spotted this down the street from my father in laws house. I looks like a 40 chrysler body but the front grille throws me. Maybe thats a LaSalle front grille? Then I thought DeSoto but now I just don't know. Anyone know?

Don't think its a Ply. Vent window shape and fender style are different on a 40 Ply.

Check out that peak on the front bumper

I could be way off here, but maybe a 39-40 Dodge coupe, obviously with a packard grill. What ever it is, it's a sweet ride, thanks for sharing.

As far as I know its a '40 Chrysler, but it might be a DeSoto as well. The headlights are DeSoto bumper could be either one. Definitly not Chevy, completely diferent body lines. Grille is Packard!

I headlight shape looks like DeSoto, but the bumper and hood ornament look to be Chrysler. Hard to know which pieces were switched!

The grille is Packard - a '41 or '42 Clipper. The bars are horizontal and narrowly spaced. As far as I can determine, all previous Packard grilles had vertical slats and the '46-'47 Clippers had wider spaces between the bars.

Nice car. I don't see any snow in that pic. We have 6" of snow on Turkey day in Ohio.

Rikster I'll think that you are on the right track, I have looked at photos of 40 Chrysler and found that the "De Soto" lights and bumpers was also used on Chrysler models.

The front lights, the ornament on top of the hood and the trim on side are used on 1940 Chrysler but when you are looking at a custom you can't be to shore.

Good looking, well balanced custom in my eyes!!

    Hey,

I boleave that that's the Briggs bodied DeSoto body. The 40-41 Chryslers
look very close, but were built on a bigger wheel base. I think Desotos did
    use Chrysler bumpers.
