Some of You Hambers may remember last T Day Me, Fedsled and OldBeet chopped My 49 Merc over the 4 day weekend. The chop on the Merc turned out good, We were all very happy with the way it looked.
So this year We are gonna chop My shoebox. We will post daily on the progress. As last year We hope to have the top all done on the outside, welded and ground clean. We will not slant the B pillars cause it makes the qtr windows easier to make roll up and down.
We will start with a 3" chop and go from there could be more.
For You new guys search Thanksgiving Day Merc chop by OLDBEET,
Sooo heres My shoebox. I got this car from My older Brother in 98 It had been setting in His garage in Fresno Ca since 88. I drug it home to Seattle and had it cleaned up and running since. Its got a SBF and a c4 in it. It has been a very dependable car but hasnt seen much use cause of the Mercs We got. Well thats gonna change now! We will chop it, paint it flat black and put a built 440 Mopar and TF in it. This summer it will look cool and haul ASS!!

    DAY ONE COMPLETED
Ok here We go. Yesterday We completly gutted the interior packed up tools and went to FEDSLEDS. Just the drivers seat - front and rear glass and the dashboard remained.
Today We removed the front windshield (broke the drivers side) rear window and let loose the dash. We can move the dash enough to cut and weld behind the lower A pillar. We covered the dash with template paper sos not to fuck it up. Then layed out the A-B and rear window initial cuts. And like a bunch of Dumb asses cut the roof off. Well then We noticrd We didnt brace the rear window so did that on the bench. Then welded the A pillar cut out pcs back to the roof caus the lower You make the cut , the wider they get overall for width. By adding them back on and cutting more off the bottom We gained over an inch in width.
I looked at METALSHAPES shoebox chop and decided real fast I dont have the talent to do it that way I can only hope this turns out half as good.
We decided to do it like We did the Merc. Move the entire roof ahead.
The B pillars are cut below the drip rail so we dont have to mess with em.
The rear window will be put in upsidedown. The rear of the roof on this car has WAY MORE shape just above the rear window than the Merc.
Im guessing We will have a 4" strip across the bottom and a 12' strip across the top to hide the hump and ofcoarse long side strips.
Thanks JR And Jesse for the help. So to wrap up the roof is set both B pillars are tacked in and the passenger A pillar is tacked. More tomorrow FEDER

    DAY 3 THANKSGIVING DAY CHOP
There werer 3 of us workin today Me Fedsled and Jesse.
Layed out the doors leaned and tacked them off.
    Started the door tops.
Layed the rear window in upside down -looked and looked again and decided to put it in right side up. For 2 reasons. From the side it follows the drip rail better and 2nd its wider at the bottom and lays better for the side panels at the lower outside radious. It did look good lookin straight forward.
We moved the beltline fwd 4" , then made pcs up to the window.
This took away from it lookin so fastbakky.
We brought the panels right up to the edge of the window so all the welding will be covered by the rubber.
Tomorrow We will finish the roof (2 more inserts) finish the doors and begin welding like crazy. ----FEDER
