Here are a few pics of the project that I have been working on for a few months now. Its a 33 or 34 for pick up. So fare I have built a frame started channeling the cab and narowed the rear end along with a ton of other things. Bret
and one of the front as you can see Im not the most organized person in the world and Im kind of a slob. bret
I have been wanting to post some pics of it for a wile but wanted to get it a little farther along. One of my favorite things about the HAMB is checking out everyone projects and watching them come along. Bret
Looks real good. I am curious about how you kicked up the front of your frame though. Wondering if you could show a pic of that. Love the Desoto Hemi. I miss mine. Keep the updates coming. They are motivation for some of us.
Very Bad *** RPU!! I'm actually going to be running a QC myself. I was debating between a Franklin and a Halibrand. How you like the Franklin and any pro's/cons in your opnion??? CANT WAIT TO SEE MORE PICS!!!
yea the front is kind of differnt it of kind stepped and angled up. I wanted to get it to sit real low but the step looked to big and the angle was to steap so I did both I think it looks much better. I can try to post some pics of it next time. bret
Nice car project and I love the motor. sidestory- for years I had a cast iron 2-4 intake here, never knew WTF it was- thought it was early Caddy. Cad guy bought it, and returned it- said nope not for a Cad. Well it turned out to be the super rare DeSoto 2-4 intake from 1956 for the 341 or 345 engine (?)- but pretty sure it was a one year only deal for the DeSoto. Some guy on the net tossed me $275 for it and I shipped it out- but was thinking perhaps it was worth even more than that- some have gone for as high as $500 by what I hear. There was also a junkyard here that had a Desoto car with Hemi, and another Chrysler with a 354 Hemi- the owner of the yard was a real wing nut- and very hard to deal with- then he crushed both cars with the engines in them, when he retired and closed the yard. Never could understand why. It's almost like he wanted to hurt the hot rod hobby and ***** everyone off- cuz he fully knew what they were and worth. Instead he crushes them and gets $60 per hulk from the crusher ?
Yea the franklin was easy to narrow and I used 31 spline ford truck axes that I got cut and respined. The frankiln also has a spool in it so I should be able to thrash the hell out of it with out haven a problem. The franklins are alot cheaper to buy than the halibrands and should be hard to break but I must admit that I like the looks of the halibrands better. bret
I think so krooser thinks he may have a line on one. Any progress on the A or are you still collecten parts. O I got the box from ya with the gears in it havent even opened it yet I have been so busy but Im sure it will be all good. bret

I had kind of the same deal with a guy that has a yard around here. I wanted to buy an old 48 ford pick up out of his yard he had told me that he was going to crush it in the next week or two. He wanted $400 hunded for it and wouldent take any less and wouldent let me pull any thing of it. So he crushed it the **** Head and I will never go back to that yard again. bret bret
I think its 25 inches but I will double check for ya. Im on my way out there just as soon as I put this thing down and get some breakfast. bret
i ve been running a winters version of that franklin for almost 8 years and i love it. i have allways love the heavy duty QCs.halibrands are hard to get and over priced.when i bought mine it was 1/2 the price of halibrand, and it was brand new not used and beat up. -danny
Should be 7 to 10" from the front of the block to end onf the fan - I am mocking my engine mounts this weekend but dont have my waterpump yet. I asked two others and have two different answers.
I get 9 inches to the tip of the fan.and 7 3/4 to the pully where the fan mounts. There is the pully and a spacer on front of the water pump. Its 6 7/8 to the front of the water pump give or take an 1/8 bret
YEH, what's up with that ? Some people - sheesh ! This guy had ridiculous prices too. He wanted $500 for any **** motor he had. And he wanted the buyer to take it out- but the problem was, you'd have to move 5 cars with a wrecker to get to it. So add that in- at least $150 in wrecker service. He would act really ****y and arrogant when asked how much for stuff- then he crushes the entire yard for peanuts. What a ****HEAD. So, some very hard-to-find, rare stuff gets crushed- 2 friggin Hemis- a bunch of nailheads including 401's and 425's, a couple early Cads from the 1950's, the place was a hot rodders heaven- and the owner a complete jerk. It was really strange cuz all the motors were complete, down to the plug wire covers on the Hemis, which are usually almost always the first thing to go. (we saw 2 other early hemis in a u-pull it yard that same day) There wasn't a single part missing from the entire Desoto. Then I figured out why- the guy always had prices about 4 times higher than what the stuff was worth. When engines were going for $50, his were $250. When engines were going for $100, his were $500. We had been stopping by every so often through the years, the prices kept climbing, but nothing ever sold. So he never DID sell those old motors, and instead crushed them. people like that piss me off
yea this guy had 30 or 40 old f 1 ford trucks from 36 to 56 box trucks, dump trucks, fire trucks, and pickups he crushed them all but the last one that I tryed to buy from him. This guy bought the yard a few years ago from a guy that collected old fords. He didnt give a **** he told me he didnt want any thing older than 1980. He was *****in about all the people that come to his yard and ask to go look at the old trucks, since he didnt trust any one he had to go back there with them and since he wanted so much for his **** he wasnt sellen much of it. Now he has a yard full of mid 80s four doors and rice rockets DUH!!!! that **** ant worth nothen. bret
nope its s***y gr*** green an early 70 mopar color. After the sublime the came out with the s***y gr***. bret
