    Howdy all,
My buddy and I are putting 36 ford drums on 40 ford spindles for his 30 cheby pickemup and the wheel bearings are wasted. Does anybody know what other wheel bearings will fit this spindle/drum combo, I believe that the bearings are the same as 40 drums, but I'm just a FNG so please enlighten me. Hopefully something newer or more readily available, ordering them is the next option.
    Thanks fellow hambers.

The wheel bearings are the same, however you can not put 36 drums on 40 spindles as the snout length of the drum is longer. You can use 37-9 drums which look similar. For identification purposes drums should have a casting number 68- for 36 or 78- for 37-9 on the inside of the hub section of the drum.

Thanks for the info Mr. Spadaro, very helpful, the drums are 37-9. But I must've phrased my question wrong, what I meant to ask was:

Are the 40 ford wheel bearings interchangeable with any other makes, models, or year of car?

Same bearing and race fits 28-48 ford front drums.
