A few weeks ago, I was driving to work at the University of Texas in Austin, and I came upon a REALLY awesome tool bag in the road. Of course I stopped, looked around and picked it up. This bag was big and stuffed full of awesome stuff, snap-on set, etc. I was late for work, so I put it in the back seat and went on into the office. When I got home that night, I inspected the bag closely, and noticed it had a motorola radio in it. I tried to contact someone, but got no response. The next morning, I tried again and got hold of a plumbing company. Man was that guy psyched! I arranged for them to meet me at work that afternoon to pick up the bag. The owner of the company came and gave me a $200 gift card to some restaurant here called Aquarelle (his wife owns it).....it's a Frenchy place, but it's good eating! I have to admit, I contemplated keeping the tools, but my wife's Dad was a plummer and I just kept imagining some poor plummer crying in his beer..... And it paid off anyway! My wife thinks I'm a mac daddy now after taking her to Aquarelle. Ben
What goes around...comes around. i even tell someone if they give me the wrong change. Corney or not you did well.
i found a dusty old bank envelope with 12 $100 bills in it in the ductwork of an old jag i had the dash out of a couple of years ago. when i gave it to the owner he just looked at me funny. never said shit, no thanks or anything. his wife came in about 3 weeks later after she found out & gave me HIS 1/2. lol. that was a cool lady.
Very cool.. Loosing tools sucks. I'm a wrench, and every once in a while i loose tools, it happens. As gay as it sounds, when you loose a tool, it's personal.. I'd spend all damn day searching for it.. Like a lost dog! LOL When people bring them back when they find them, it's like the dog came home..Haha It's good to know there's still honest people out there..some of that stuff cost's a lot of money, and the owner might not be able to afford another for a while.. i know, i've been that 'owner' before when they havn't come back. here's to ya for doin the right thing!
I remember about 15 years ago, a guy I knew imported a used Chevy truck with 454. About 2 years after driving it around, he removed the inlet manifold for some reason and found a socket set in the valley! Dont think he sent it back to the US though...
I've been searching for that 9/16 snapon wobbly socket for over 10 years now...and I ain't giving up!
Same topic, just from the other side. Over the last twenty years I have lost my wallet three times. All three times it was returned to me with all contents complete. There ARE honest people in the world.
I lost my virginity once,I never really wanted it back. She couldn't give it back anyway she couldn't even speak English. I remember very well ,all she could say was BAA, BAA, BAA,.
I just spit my pop through my nose on that one!!...Thats some funny sh!t right there! As for you doing the right thing,,,hats off to you ya big ol pimp!
That great, most car guys would give the tools back. You did the right thing. A few years ago I found $ 500. in a bank envilope and all there was to idenify the guys who lost it was the bank with draw slip. I went back to the bank and had the bank redeposit back in his acount. And just yesterday I found someone's wallet and got it back to him.
Good on ya! If you would have kept them the wrenches would have broke everything they touched. Look me up @ FRCOA party Dec 10th and I'll buy you a beer. Ok, sinde this post is about honesty I will give you one of Tiffany's beers.
