Bantam Coupe Body -vs- Vicky Body

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Beep, Nov 28, 2005.

  1. I am looking for a Bantam Coupe body for my re-creation and, of course, am having trouble locating one. However, at the Houston Autorama over the weekend, I was told by a vendor that the 32 Ford Vicky body was almost indentical in shape to the Bantam except of course it was larger. He said that I could likely take a Vicky body, chop, channel, section, etal and make it look just like or very similar to a Bantam. Is this true, or was he just trying to sell me something?

    Scratching head here?

You could put a fat suit on Charlez Theron and make her up to look like Rosie O'Donnel too, but why?

If you found a Deuce Vicki body you'd find 10 Bantams first, unless you're talking tupperware.

I don't remember a Bantam with a bustle, it'd take a shortened 2dr sedan to look close to the Bantam I think... but then I'm on my first cup of coffee,,,thinker's still half asleep

A Vicky? I'd be hard pressed to think of a more depresing way to make a Bantam body. I would think a Four Door or even a Tudor Sedan would get you closer. Do Bantams have a bustle?

When I first saw a Bantam it was quite a while before I realized I was looking at an OEM body style and not some shortened sedan thing.

    You mean like this ?

    The Bantam is Bad-Ass!

I'm building ( see attached) my own version of the 'Style' out of a '30 Ford "A" 2-dr Sedan body.

    damn Glenn,

    that's really lookin good

  10. if you could find a `32 Ford Vicky body at all , then be able to buy one , then be able to afford one,,,i think it would be a mistake to cut one up

looking at these pictures i found on the web , i think you could do it by shortening up and narrowing a `30-`31 ford tudor sedan ...maybe even use the front cowl/ windshield area from a `31 slant windshield 4-door ...if you could find one of those

  13. If it's just a drag car recreation, the Speedway Motors vicky for under $500 is a good start.

Seems like there was a cool one on ebay just a few months back. It was in Tucson I think. Had a chassis too.

Your best bet would be to take a '30/'31 four door A sedan and shortening it. Bantams as far as I can tell are few and far between. I am looking for one myself.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT CUTTING UP A VICKY BODY! This is a Bantam Coupe body I sold at Englishtown, N.J. about 10 years ago with a spair Lyndwood chassis. Wonder if it ever got built? Look at it and a photo of ANY 30-32 Ford Vicky and you won't find one thing in common.

Heres Me and FEDSLEDS 31 Bantam Coupe. Its got a small skirt like panel out back between the fenders. We got the window mouldings-front fenders -fuel tank and hood up in the attic.
This is why We started collecting 392 hemis. Someday We will have a Fuel Altered. ---FEDER

Bantams definately make awesome rods. Something a little different never hurts. That's a great effort with the 'A' sedan.

If the 5 window Bantam coupe ever comes out in glass LET ME KNOW ASAP.

    Yesford..........New Zealand.

ps.....Got to have blown 392 also.

That's the main reason I did the shortend 'A', because if you want to get 2 people in it, and really be able to DRIVE it, the Bantam is waaaaaaaaaaay small.

I am six foot and all my friends are atleast that so, I guess now I am on a quest for an A body, is it better to go 2 dr or 4dr? Looks like the 4 dr would be a good choice, cheeper too! and I like cheap!

As to how to cut up a sedan I offer Jeem's pic just because I wanted to see it again. We had someone on here building one, right down to the curved megaphones. How's it coming along?

A 4 door will work, but I prefer the 2 door and the doors are longer, and you can cut it so the rear windows are the correct size which = ROOM :)

Nice guy, I bought that coupe body I posted the photos of from him years ago.

  29. I resurrected an older post to remind everyone that I am still looking for a Bantam Body. I only need the body. Don't need the hood, the frame or anything else , just the body I doors.

I think Poverty Flats had a Bantam coupe body for sale on "that auction site" a while ago. Pm him and see if it sold.
