I'm still tweaking and trying to get to understand my mill and lathe.I needed a handle for the quill down feed so I cobbled it up on the lathe. I bought a cheap set of pool balls for 12 bux and used them for knobs. Then after I got that done I tried a little milling and made a pair of pedals to fit the 39 ***embly I drug outta the bush. Gotta remember to wear shoes...those pedals are like meat tenderizers.
looks good. next set you will have to turn out of thicker stock with a stud left so they will bolt on like you have but no visible bolt head.
very nice. i want to get me one of those mill/lathe/drill combos. they are good for light work. i could be doing cool stuff like that. trey
Those pedals kick ***!!!!! if you dont like 'em, I know a fella who would buy them in about 30 seconds. seriously. Very nice. Isn't this how Lil' John ****era got his start? couple years from now and you might have just whittled yourself a formula 1 car...
One of my first jobs was making chips for a precision machinist here in town. It was my then girlfriend's dad, so he really took me under his wing and spent a lot of time/patience helping me out and showing me the ropes. I really miss the sense of satifaction you get once you get that new part all deburred and purtied up and set it there on the bench and just sit back and look at it. It's not quite the same handing someone a CD-ROM with all of your hard work on it :-/ That guy should be pretty close to retiring now (again, he was a lifer at IBM, then he got a full retirement there after 25 yrs (at age 25) and opened his own shop after that) I oughtta go see if he needs someone to take over....
