Ive aquired an axle...and i dont have a clue what it came out of...i have an axle that looks similar..that came out of an econoline..if anybody can tell me what kind of axle this is..or maybe how too find out..help a brotha out..muahahaha... goose
48-52 F1 axle had shocks mounted on axle pins similar to that one...all others from 53 up to the twinIbeam had various U-bolt mounted shock brks without the axle holes. The F100 axle had a dip in the center as well...but I've been told the F1 didn't. I BELIEVE Chevy/GMC stubby vans had U-bolt brks as well so they're out. Kingpin hole diameter could narrow it down for you, but I don't have that info handy myself. Someone will most likely know if you post it though.
Here's a '53-'56 F-100 axle that I'm polishing. You can see that it has a dip in the center. Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
it's not a 50s chevy pickup, they dont have the shock bolts on the axle like that. I looked in the chevy van shop manual from 66, no clear pics, the shocks do attatch around the same place, but I could not find any good enough photos in it to say for sure either way. My guess is a 60s van, maybe dodge or econoline, but that's just a guess.
I'm thinking F1 too, because of the shock pi, but see if you can measure kingpin angle and diameter. Every pickup axle made since front brakes became a fad looks just like that...
