...to get these tires? They are 5.00/5.50-18 Gillette knobbys. I'd like a set for the rear of the Beater. I'm usually pretty tire-savvy but I can't find these.

those tires are at least 50 years old ! i was looking for some 400x12 or 500/12 for a vintage midget race car and ended up buying some vintage looking firestones from coker mike

I want...no, NEED 18 inchers. They're just 2 inches cooler than the 16's I can get from Coker. Anyone?
BTW.....is that not the coolest car? Built in the 20's by one guy. Cast his own head.....what talent.

  6. I traded a pair of those a couple of years ago Pete - but they were 21". Damn things looked like octopus ****ers all round!
Only ones I've seen are all that size. Sorry.

Pete, I agree that is a great looking T, flea market or eBay is the place to find a pair. For some reason there are a lot of 17" knobbies out there, 18 & 19 are rare. How did you get this info on that car? If there are other photos please post them.

I saw it on here a few days ago and dug out my TRJ w/ it in there (TRJ #22). In the article (which, btw, I read 3 or 4 times yesterday) it states Bob Anderson installed new 5.00/5.50-18 Gillete Knobbies on the newly sandblasted and painted Buffalo wires.
Man, I like that car alot. Considering a major style change on the Beater.

That being the case, I know TRJ is on the board. Maybe a PM is in order? I'm sure they could get you in touch with the owner. I tried to find them also, and came up with a dead end.

Well, it wasn't a dead end... I searched Gillette... then got sidetracked on some totally shaven website...

Figures, that is one issue of TRJ I'm missing. Bob Anderson, boy that name sounds familiar, I bought a 20" Buffallo at Hershey 4-5 years ago and a guy saw it and wanted it real bad, needed one more to get his T rolling. Sure would be nice to know it was this car.:D

I do know that Coker offers an Excelsior in that size, But I don't think it has the knobby tread on it. May be worth giving them a call........
