I think it needs some wheel wells...like from a 50 ford. The chop is approx. 4.5". Let me know if you are interested in a roll pan. The bumpers look cool though. Maybe bring them closer to the body, like the second picture.

There was one of those at a local car show I went to last fall. They turned it into a bamboo tiki surf wagon thing. The inside was redone in floral barkcloth, with a matching head liner. It had a bamboo grill, the chrome trim was replaced with split bamboo, along with the door guards down the sides, and the rearview mirror was made out of a toy surf board. I think they made a roof rack out of bamboo also.

I thought I took a picture of it, but I can't seem to find that disc.

The lack of wheel wells is one of the defining features of the car. Getting rid of them, in my opinion, would make less unique.

Not real traditional, but this might help.

There was a yellow one like this at the Daytona Spring Rod Run in the Car Corral with a SBC and very cool looking, personally I love these wagons - the lack of wheel wells does it for me. maybe **** in the rear bumper

Has anyone seen a traditional type custom using one of these wagons?

It's amazing how taste change. I used to think those had to be the ugliest cars ever made. Now I would love to have one to make a custom. Hmmmm maybe it is because the **** they make now has no style whatsoever at least the old Nash's has some serious styling.

Here are a few more. I had two of these things, unfortunately they both sold to a street rodder down south some where, who, last I heard, was going to put an LT1 in it. ****!

    Here's an idea:
    Mild chop up top
    Cut out rear wheel wells
    Shaved keyholes
    Two-tone White and red
    Some Radirs with wide whites

  16. I give you..... the Nashamino.

Kinda hard to do a traditional styled car from something that was the anti-hot rod back then.

I just had a brainstorm. How about Flat black with red wheels? :D

On a more serious note, are these bigger than a Metropolitan?

sprbxr do you not even own that thing. For shame having people photo shop that for you for nothing but your own amusment.

The 50 is considerably larger than a Met. Early 50's were full sized cars. Starting about '56 or so, the smaller American was built on a 108" wheelbase. Body style was similar but without the skirt-style wheelwell. The Met would be about 3/4 size of the American.

I hope you put the H.A.M.B. look on that wagon! Find a 2 pot aluminum head from a Nash Statesman and thats all you need under the hood.

Zumo's pic is right on. We don't need any more street rodded Nash's!
