Fecals is alive and well.. he has been laying low.. something about an underage girl and the bus station.. the fuz was out after him...

    I kid you not.

I may run into him this weekend.. iwill tell him ya'll are concerned about his well being. :)

The HAMB.. geeze i didn't join up till end of 2002.. Hellfish pointed the way.

Tons of great info.. things i would never ever ever figure out myself. A gold mine in my opinion. All the help and opinions i have gleaned off the HAMB can never be paid back. All the handshakes and beers and friends developed on the HAMB.. well the "net" for that matter (because the internet _IS_ the HAMB for most of us).

    Its sweet

  6. Ahh, found some photo's and memories....

(most were pasionate arguments and hazefests....)

    * Germ's poems and fighting adventures....(VLV, Billetproof)
    * PPE merits, and will it ever make the strip
    * VLV Fat chick hazing
    * Whiskey is taking over, one line at a time
    * Modernbeats shed...
    * Mike (aka otownrumbler/draglinks...etc....etc...) and his rpu
    * the 'Harlen Hammer'
    * Spank vs Dr J......Quarter elliptics and intake design (whatever happened to 'Gambles' 34 roadster?)
    * Photography and art.....does Dave Perry and Von Franco still lurk?

    Looking forward to the future...

    Cheers, and again, thanks Ryan,

man, this thread really brings back some memories.

i head about the jalopy journal in HRD(around'99),so i decided to look it up at my buddys house,,his computer was so slow,we never got it to load,haha..

a couple years later (2001)i was flipping through that old mag and decided to look it up again,.it was awesome looking at all the cool pics, but never thought to click on the "HAMB" at the bottom of the page untill a few days later.

its funny now thinking back on it,but i got my ass ripped cuz my original name on the hamb was "SickBoy",,i had no idea there was a whole sick boy poser movement going on in california at that time,i had left in 93,anyways
,i think the guys musta thought i was pulling ther chain when i signed on or something, hahaha
Steve,,i really do have sick boy tatted across my back! ,,haha

anyways i had just got my car i was buidling rolling and pushed it outside to snap some pics ,by 2001 my car had started to change direction from the original plan ,so i was kinda nervous about posting it. i remeber dr.j saying it was cool or something like that,so that was a relief. sure glad i found the HAMB.

anyways i remeber taking alot of shit back then from the og members,so i changed my name a couple months after that .

the new hamb guys have no idea of much ass reaming went on back in the old days, most people who got flammed back then would never come back! if you stayed around then it meant you at least had some balls.

there's a 64% chance i'm going to name the wrong HAMBer here, but whatever happened to FRAZ?

in a nutshell, the guy had been in love with this girl since he was ten, and she'd had a string of total dickhead boyfriends, and he had always been her celibate rock. she finally broke up with this one guy she'd been with, and went over to his house because - well, she always did when she needed support.

our courageous HAMBer, knowing that HE was her true love, consoled her by saying -

"i love you. will you marry me?"

and she said yes! his post mentioned that he would be gone for a while, and unfortunately i never did find out if he found happiness... if he can't afford cars now that he has his wife, i don't think it matters. she was going to make him happy. i just want to know...

did it all turn out right?

apologies if the HAMBer in question wasn't, in fact, FRAZ.

and, just to confirm, Christian's basement shit story was without doubt the funniest thing i have ever seen on the internet.

I've been here 2 months shy of 3 years, and I missed a lot of the "glory days" of the HAMB. I found the Jalopy Journal well before I found the HAMB, probably sophomore year in high school. Messing around on the computer in study hall. I found all kinds of hot rod sites, but checked the JJ all the time. Eventually I found my way to the board.

I joined and started posting, I used to be "Kustoms & Rockets" then "K&R." I went to a swap meet frosh. year of college, and went to the HAMB meet. I met Merc, Honest, MarkX, Elrod, 67impwagon, FltBlk, and a few others there....found out about the Roundup....made the trek with MarkX and Elrod....by that time next year, we had all formed THEM!Tx.

This place has influenced me a LOT, and my car too. I didn't even know what an Astro Supreme was 5 years ago, and metalflake was a bad '70's trip. I know better now, and I wouldn't have it any other way....

I just wanted to interject something else about the HAMB.

I was/am a member of several car related web site message boards and the HAMB was the hotbed of Photoshops...

I don't want to say that it was the origion of Photoshopping cars, but it was definately being done here in a way that I hadn't seen elsewhere....so much so that I had to get a copy of that damned program and learn it - I am totally self taught and fluent in it now and I owe that to this place. It was all because of how much passion was going into each 'chop post, and the fact that it was probably going to actually be done!!! Now we have guys asking for 'chops on cars they don't even own, just for their amusement......ohh well, whatever.

I have gotten the Photoshop bug so bad that I joined message boards to do concept cars for fantasy new models, just to get my fix and to push my abilities.....even if I don't care about the kinds of cars.

    Viva la HAMB

  13. I stopped photochopping cars, it was becoming a full time job. One of the last ones I did was a 6 wheeled Torino with an inflatable party sheep as the hood ornament. I've got a ton of old photos and crap archived on another computer... might have to fire it up someday.

I can't remember if I found the HAMB or Ryan found me. He e-mailed me about my hot rod t-shirt designs ("you got some skills, Holmes"), and the rest is hazy memories...

My first post I came out swinging, a know-nothing-newbie. Got an interesting, um, "conversation" started... then the HAMB melted down and saved my ass.

    I won the engine Melt-down.

I have a Sailor original hanging on my wall.

I have a North of 49 poster signed by Brush on my wall.

I designed the HAMB CD cover that never got off the ground. Sailor painted the Fecals the Clown painting for it.

I designed the HAMB Drags dash plaque (Ryan retooled it).

    I designed Framedragger's E&J t-shirts.

I still owe Brewsir a painting.

I've ridden in Big Olds and eaten Denise's fine cookies (no, that's not code for anything).

I still have a crush on RocketScientistChris (don't tell her).

I think I did battle with Germ and missed it (computer melted down, I was offline for a couple of days). I had "battle tested" under my name when I got back online... and never knew why.

I was around for "what iz yur dream ride" (hot rod angel, wasn't it?), Christian's shit blender, Ox's ass-reaming and the Lordz of Kustomz initiation, and a ton of other entertaining topics when I just about wet myself laughing...

    ...and 9/11, when I didn't.

I've met, and bought/sold/traded/bartered with a bunch of HAMBers who I consider friends.

I bought the HAMB "Bomb" Hauler.

I'm still convinced that I kill threads.

I'm still an insomniac, but I do most HAMB surfing at work. I was on the HAMB early one morning with ONE other person lurking. Now we seem to average between 200 and 400 at any given time.

The HAMB will prolly hit a million posts this year.

    I need a life.

    Viva da HAMB.

I didn't realize that. He sent me one a couple of years ago as a thank you for hooking him up with one of my Federal Mogels buds. Everytime I wear it I not only think of Framedrager but think to myself that it needs TWO headlights on it instead of just the one. :D I'll think of you now too when I wear it.;)

I stumbled on the hamb a looong time ago while surfing the net. I was an early user but I didnt have a lot of time to play puker cause I had too many projects going so I kind of made the rodders roundtable home although I was a registered user on the HAMB. I let that lapse and came back last year I think. What fun....

Yeah, well when you wear the shirt it has a bit more 3D effect than when most of the rest of us do. :p

I'm looking forward to another ride in Big Olds now that you're world famous.

Man, what a ride...lots of memories here..I'd still love to read Christian's shit pump story again. I'm not sure the date I found the hamb.. it was the first version of the board though, I think I was number 30-something.. Anyone remember the controversy with Dave Hill (custom rodder)? I remember looking for the hamb after that, but couldn't find it.. Then I was cruising ebay one night at work and found an auction for a red chevy fleetline (I think it was Ryan's) and it had a link to more pictures on the Jalopy Journal.. just happened to click on the viva la hamb at the bottom of the editorial..and been here ever since. I remember being afraid to post anything for the longest time.. finally eased in without getting an ass-reaming.. met a lot of great people through the board.. the kind that will drive 12 hrs to bring you a set of '32 rails and spend a couple of days helping you set it up..(thanks again Ben!)... and thanks for the place to hangout, Ryan...

  18. The HAMB has been[AND IS:) ] a place where "legends" would put the fear of God and an internal ass invasion on you one second- then in the blink of an eye,the same bastard that was ridiculing you the night before would ask you your address and send you a part you needed for your car........FREE.

Its the greatest thing since the ruination of nightly TV..I could not live with out it.Thanks Ryan-let me know before banning me so I can beg....

It's hard to belive I have been on here for about 7-8 years now. I only have about 400 posts between both boards. I have learned a lot form the HAMB and hope to be on here for a long time to come.

......good way to sum it all up! I can't tell you the tech, the parts and the friendships I've taken from this place.

  22. I arrived very soon after the H.A.M.B. went live, I lurked for a few days and then responded to a post and was told by Gracie to "play hide and go fuck myself" or something likee that.

Being an obnoxious loud mouthed and opinionated prick, i figured that was her way of saying "welcome and stick around" so i did.

I don't post as much as I once did, primarily coz there's too many here who just don't get it and want to argue that black is white rather than debate an issue inteligently, or with an open mind.

I still post occasionally in the Friday Art and model Cars threads and occasionally, I may even jump into the discussion on another.

I include many people here as my personal friends and have even travelled with, or had visit my place, quite a few of these friends.

It's a good place frequented mostly by good people, I hope it continues to grow and improve.

Well, well, well ... you have come out of hiding! It's been a LONG time!
    Miss you ya 'ole bugger.

Still think back to when you and I were sitting on the back of my truck at Bonneville in .. (gawd how the time goes) .. 1998 and "sipping on a cool one."
(you still owe me one by the way :D )

    Eatin' your veggies?
    Take care; and CHEERS!

  24. I haven't been hiding, you haven't been reading the right threads. ;-)

Yeah and i'm lookin forward to delivering it, in person. Unfortunately, bonneville 06 is going to clash with my business calendar, so I may be heading over earlier to do a few other things i haven't done yet. e.g. March Meet, Paso Robles etc.

yep, but I'm gettin bloody sick of eatin pills!

However, there's more people much worse of than me so I'll live with it.

    I'll try, you do likewise.

My favorite thread that made me think was the "Louver" thread that you contributed to Carps. Maybe that one should be brought up again, there was alot of great info that alot minds posted. My other one that made me laugh was the "upflow" crapper post.

Oh yea, how did I find this place? I lurked for a while before Bonneville in 01' and then asked about 3/2 set-ups and kinda' snuck in under the thrashing with a cane pole. And I have met some great guys here on the HAMB from around the globe and I have sent a bunch of "rare" parts to complete strangers around the globe also for free (or I told them that they owe me a beer).

    Chris; if only.
That thread turned into a MAJOR study/discussion on areodynamics.
(with Peter lending his F1 experience)

Sadly, that thread was lost when the HAMB was undergoing a server change over. (or service provider, can't remember which)

I saved a lot of it, but now only the text shows. All the pictures; and there were a LOT, now are the red X's.

I know I started reading the jalopyjournal and getting on the hamb somewhere around 98 or 99. I remember how the old board was and I actually like this one better. But germs rants were still funny most of the time. I have actually kept my screen name this whole time thats kind of suprising to me.

This has been a fun thread to read during this lunch hour.

I too would love to re-read Chris' Broulier (sp) story.
I was a lurker/occasional poster on the Hamb and a regular on the RRT when Sam ignited the great WWW controversy, spawned by an editorial in issue one of CK Deluxe.
It's refreshing to see how well DrJ is doing after all these many years of posting from a shoebox in Nasty32/41/bill's closet :)

My most missed feature of the early versions of the board was the N/T (no text) subject line threads. A lot of wit, both good and bad was spewed into the ether in those.

damn didn't this turn into a monster thread......
I honestly don't remember the hows and whens, but I guess it was all via the HRDeluxe deal, and Jasons site so probably about 99 or so for me, been a real interesting ride, meet some great folks, done deals learned a heap, ended up with another pile o parts in the shed etc.

    Good work Ryan.

  30. One day I'll hand deliver some of those pictures ad more.

Hey Sodbuster, have you forgotten, we even made a full colour centrespread in Australia's biggest selling car magazine, with Bob K lurkin in the background.

Of course it was buyin up all the copies for Bob made that issue a sellout. :::LOL:::

Yup, it has been mostly fun.
