I got this off of eBay and recieved it wednesday. I know it's a chevy but I am guessing 65-66 Impala? Or Chevelle? or where they the same those years?
my dad happened to be looking over my shoulder at the pic and he said he reminded him of his 65 chevelle, my i didnt think chevelles had horn rings. Its not a impala since it would have the impala logo in the center cap. Me I think its a 65 bel air wheel
I was gonna say that my '64 SS had a horn ring. My '67 had the same basic wheel minus the horn ring. I think they lost the horn ring in '65. But don't hold me to that.
65 Chevelle. My 64 is similar, but the horn button is chrome around the outside and the lines and color in the centre is different.
Looked it up in the Chevrolet Parts Interchange manual, by Paul Herd. There is a picture of one just like it. It lists it as 1962-64 Chevy II, 1964-1965 Chevelle, 1966 Chevelle, deluxe steering wheel for 1966 only. There is also another picture showing the same wheel with an Impala center, which states its is for a 1965-1966 Impala. It's a nice 60's wheel.
That's a totally wrong steering wheel for your truck. You need to get rid of it right away. Send it to me. I'll be happy to relieve you of the stress it may cause seeing it in your truck...it needs to be in MY truck Ok here's a paint tip for you...ever notice how a painted steering wheel looks like a painted steering wheel? Kinda sucks dontcha think? For all of my fellow hambs, after you base the white you need to "candy-pearl" the wheel ever so gently. Just a few drops of transparent brown/gold tint, and a small amount of gold pearl in the clear. Do a test panel 1st to count the coats needed and don't figure the final outcome till the next day (they dry darker). What the end result is, the wheel looks like the cast "luminesent" material from back in the day instead of the plain old white. For the red, same similar deal but add red pearl to a thin, almost transparent mix of the base red, then spray the clear. Same effect...looks like a cast wheel when yer done. Hope this was helpful.
