Looking for info or build pic's of COE's turned into four door cabs or streched cabs. I have been gathering parts for mine (38 Ford) for a couple of years now and am getting ready to light the torchs. General thought it to make it into a tilt deck crew cab. I want to be able to haul the family as well as the hot rod.... So far I have gathered a ***mins engine, an F350 super duty frame, original sheet metal, ect. Looking for ****** options as well.

  2. Hi Pistinbroke :)
Below is a the link to my web site where you will find a few dual cab conversion pics.
Just go to the overseas section and start looking.
The Web site address is a new address as I have just changed it from the previous web site address as I couldn't upload files to it anymore.
    That's my excuse anyway.

You guys that are going with the engine under the hood. What kind of leg room do you think you will end up with? Can you get the cab low enough to look right? The guys that put the engine behind the cab usually are building a ramp truck and its no problem. Lets see some of the interiors of the engine under the cab.

Metaltwister, the air box looks good and great access to the filter.

I'm building a 53 Dodge COE, using the stock frame. The suspension is off a 92, 3/4 T, GMC van for front and the rear off a 75, 3/4 T, Chevy pick up.

My 48 Ford COE hauler is on a 93 Dodge 1 ton frame/ch***is stretched 9 feet. It wasn't what I intended to use in the beginning, but after I realized it was the correct measurements and I already had it, I went ahead and used it. It actually worked pretty good once I solved the steering box angle problem.

Planning on using a 75 Ford motorhome 1 ton ch***is under my 54 Ford Coe. Don't know how it will work with a 460 in the stock location. These cabs seem to be a little bit bigger than the 40's cabs.

Lowriders, I think the motor will set better with the frame your using, but the steering is a rear steer which could be a problem. I`m using the 88 F450 ch***ie and the motor sits back about 4" , but its a front steer which will work better in these cabs. I`m thinking of grafting the axles onto the OEM frame which will give me mor room to fit what ever motor I decide to stuff in there.

I have my 51 Ford on a 92 Dodge 3500 frame with the 5.9l diesel up front, coving all the bases because the car hauler part will have my 49 pick-up ontop.

My 41 Ford COE has been fitted onto a 84 Chev van. Fits good, 10' 6" pick up bed with tandem axels.

    Still photo handycapped!

for my 56 LCF I'm going with a 1995 gmc crewcab dually 4x4 ch***is.I'm hoping I can turn down the torsion bars on the front end and get the truck lower and still have 4x4 for up in the mountains here.

Just find & stripped a 1985 GMC crew cab dually with a running 454 for the '49 Ford COE. I'm going to go with the engine behind the cab. Plans are to make a car/bike hauler. Been lurking around here for quite awhile and I am very impressed with all the knowledge and the willingness to share all the cool ideas. I have built a few custom bikes, but this will be my first truck project. Please be patient if I ask some rookie questions.

Using a 2003 GMC W4500 HD ch***is and running gear. I am basically taking the GMC cab off and putting my 57 body (stretched to a crew cab)on it and using a 58 fleetside bed with cut down stepside fenders for dually fenders. Plan on using all the electronics. It will think it is still the 03 GMC and be able to be serviced at any truck stop if any problems arise on the highway. Plan on towing a big 5th wheel camper.
