Yep, I have a '89 Chevy 1 ton LWB truck for a ch***is. I'm looking for a 454 if I keep the engine in the front.....If I put it behind the cab, it can be anything (big block). Still haven't decided where to put the engine. I need to get the cab on the frame to see what would work best for legroom, access, etc.

Keep us updated on your COE progress! I thought your ch***is came with an engine?

The engine is stuck, there was water in 2 of the cylinders.
it maybe rebuildable but I think a complete running is cheaper.
Finally got off my *** and started patching the fenders and fabbing the lower step or running boards.

I finished the fab work on my rear doors. I also have the cab as high as possible in my gargae and started Finishing the floor bracing. Completed one side and figured out the new center mount. Took one temporary brace out of the inside and it is solid with no flex.

Well, I was hoping to contribute to this forum more lately, but other unfinished projects keep me from doing it.

In the last two weeks I sold my 66 Ford N-600 and my 53 Ford C-500. Then yesterday used the spot the 66' was in to hold my 54 Ford C-600 for winter.
At least I was driving it (steering while being winched) arround the yard a bit...lol

Looked out the window, cursed the snow, and wished I could get my 51 Dodge COE drug home.

I've been puttering around my building, going crazy. I'm tempted to start pulling the engine out of my 57 Ford panel truck. However, I have no shop, and every time I go to do something, the neighbors yell at me and tell me I shouldn't be doing that. I feel well enough to get in trouble. Patience, Patience, Patience.

Today it was fairly warm, (40's) so I did some cleanup on my donor frame....
Pulled the gas tank and to my surprise it was almost FULL of gas!!! Got about 17 gallons of gas out of it! Was clean and still smelled fine. SCORE!
    I NEVER get that lucky.......

I got the 51 Dodge COE hauled in today & a 41 International cube van. The neighbors will be so impressed. I will post pictures as soon as I get them cleaned up a bit. Farm fresh!

Finally got the Dodge cleaned out today. I can't imagine driving this truck out to Montana from New Hampshire. As rusty as it is, I believe half of it is still in New Hampshire.

I also took pictures of the International cube van. Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a 41 & a 42? Vin # has more 2's in it, but I don't know if that means anything.

I dropped the engine in today for trial fit. I may do some mods to the cross-member to get the engine a little lower.

It may need tweaked a little. I have not measured precise location lately. Seeing as how it is not attached to the frame, and it tends to get quite windy around here at times.

It is cold here today, so I am cutting up the home made wooden flatbed on the Dodge, and recycling it in my wood stove.

Putting a new water pump on my '52 GMC 3 1/2 ton COE this week. Also decided while the front grille, radiator, & misc., is out of the way. i'll replace all hoses, & belts. Might as well put a new fuel pump on, since I can see it.

worked on my dash the last couple of days. I cut out the 57 chevy dash out and am putting in a 56 gmc dash I had. It worked out better to use the gauge cluster from the 2003. custom fit all the heat and a/c controls, vents, and new style radio hole. Today I fought with my wiper motor for about 4 hours. The power wire pulled out of the motor and I thought, I'll just solder a new wire on. As I pulled the motor apart and springs went flying, I knew I was in trouble. Got it all together and it would only run and not turn off. Seemed like it was running backwards. After tearing it apart another 10 times, I got it to work. Now I can have it apart and back together in about 5 minutes.

Finished getting the Dodge cleaned up, and the home made flatbed cut up. Got a lot of firewood, and it looks so much better. I'm going to put the Dodge on evil bay, so I can afford to buy the 54 ford COE I really wanted.

Jan 4 and we don't have any snow in southern alberta so i took the c.o.e. out for a drive. with the warm weather (65F ) we get some wicked winds which was the only downer but i enjoyed myself and love this truck. i've sold my roadster to help with some ongoing projects including the art deco style deck i have planned for this c.o.e. i'm also looking into AC as i plan on going to the LA roadster show in june and my wife will be coming along and deserves some comfort features.(read-i'm getting old and having the window down for 3000 miles isn't going to work) i'm going to pick up the rest of the material for the deck tomorow.

I started last week installing a new water pump on my 1952 GMC 470 series COE, with 302 engine. I have also been replacing all hoses, belts, & plan to put a new fuel pump on it this weekend. Figured I'd replace everything I could easily access, now that the front grille, radiator, & upper, radiator baffle are removed.

I finished stripping the Corvette donor then put everything away to do a V8 swap into a friend's late model Wrangler. Hoping this only takes a couple weeks, then its full-on COE again.

Still looking for a late model F-150 frame and axles that I'll use for the COE. I'd like 2004+, rear disk, LSD, 3.73s...

Since there hasn't been any updates lately i'll share some of my experiences with building these trucks. i used a van style steering box and moved it inboard on the frame, this solved the alignment issues with the steering but doing this it gave me an uneven number of turns, in other words it turned more to the right than to the left. not a big deal but being a bit ADD it bugged me- solution- remove the pitman arm and renotch to the middle of turns in box, you can use a dremmel or a small file. another thing i did and have done before is instead of spending big bucks on radiators when needing a narrow rad i use a cross flow style and stand it on end. the one in my c.o.e. is from a 80's chev 3/4 ton.(worked great at bonneville).

  27. I pushed mine into the garage today and am going to fab and finish all my cab mounts. Next will be get the engine and trans mocked up and mounts put in place.
I am going to see Blaaze's COE tomorrow, hopefully that will motivate me even more.

Well yesterday I brought the 92 Dodge Ram 350 frame home from the shop to the home shop. Its powder coated and on all 6 tires. I now need to run the new lines and add the steering.

Today I pulled the cab off the "fitter" frame and will mount it on a rolling rack till I find a body man, in the mean time I have a 5.9l ***mins to clean up and transfer over.

  29. Well I have been working on reskinning the doors on my 41/39 Ford COE, I used VW Beetle Skins as I don't have a wheeling machine or the knowlegde to use one:confused:
The VW Skins are a bit short in height so you need to either leave the bottom 6" of your existing Door Skin, providing it is good enough.

Now this will be a first for me, trying to attach photo's:confused:
Nope, still can't figure it out, can't be that difficult !!, Pex can do it !!!!!!!!!:p
Somebody must be able to tell me !!!

Guess if you want to see how I did it you will just have to go to the link below
