    Hey willysbill;
I just went to your ozcoetrucks build site and went all the way from page 1 to 360-whatever. WOW! You've come a long way. Great job! Keep it up and post more pictures on the H.A.M.B. Good luck!

Finished some more body work today and figured out the west coast mirror mounting. Out of the 26 holes drilled in my doors for various mirrors over the years, I was able to use 2 of them.

I was able to mount the steering box on the frame, and make the pattern for the bracket needed to mount it. GM van box on a Dodge frame. just a little work there. In the afternoon I pulled the turbo off the motor and am going to start making the stuff i need to locate it off the back of the 5.9l.

  5. Hi V8steel
Thanks, so far only about 11 years into the build, lucky I am not in a hurry, hope to have it painted sometime this year, if I can get my son Matt to operate the Spray Gun !!! I just love working on it.

bill-that's coming along great. i'm getting ready to pull the deck off mine. had a little vacation to get revved up, went to the beach(about 3000 miles south)

  7. I started putting the van steering box in place and mocking up for the changes that will have to be made to make it work. I should have been working on customer stuff today, but the parts I bought on Wednesday were taunting me.

I caught up some maint on the kabover, had a slight alignment issue with the pulleys and belts so i moved the alt over to the p*** side and redid the pulleys. now you don't need to take the PS belt off to get the fan/alt belt on and corrected the alignment. changed the valve covers over to some chrome GM ones i had. changed the oil and did a road test. I'd like to find a better throttle cable, i'm using a 9ft choke cable and it gets stiff when its below freezing out. any suggestions?

Pex, Someone told me boat cables and another told me they were using bike cables from a shop who had the cabling in bulk and made them up to length.

Hey Pex, don't you just use a toggle switch for a throttle? :D

What did I do for my COE today???

Well... I did a lot of thinking, plotting and planning all dependent on the possibility of future funds to come. Does that count?

Dave, it all counts...just add cash and stir. A nice execution plan is part of the project. fabman

  15. I sat in mine with the steering column mocked up. Kind of my happy place, other than the one with midgets and unicycles.
Next block of free time I get will be dedicated to the mods for engine/trans install.

  16. I am still doing bodywork on my 41 Ford, Cab is done, Doors are done, Grille Panel is almost done, just the fenders and running boards to go, oh yeah and I just lost my job, I guess that will give me more time to work on the COE

  18. willysbill, I like the way your COE is shaping up.
Sorry to hear about your job also.
Work is over rated, but it does help pay the bills.

i'm on my third try at building a new deck and haven't liked anything i've done so i'm going to do a box style with the long running boards and stock fenders.this will solve any storage issues on our trip to the LA in june, I ordered the boxsides from my metal supplier and will pick them up on wednesday. i'll post some pics next weekend. been too busy with work lately but been very sucessful selling off the surplus vehicles i've gathered, made enough this week to buy AC for the kabover. Looked at a p-van frame today for the 56, after much thought i've decided to keep it and do it next winter. b-bop told me he knows where there are two others so don't worry about him. been working on a 114 mercury coupe, a 47 mercury 1/2 ton(wife's) and a 39 ford pick-up in my spare time. LOL less computer more shop time.

I had the boxsides cut at 10' 8'' there's a 1'' break at the bottom and a 4'' break at the top at a 45, i've got 1'' pipe to finish the top.i built a frame around the engine and heavy duty enough to haul a bike at the back(4ftx91'') the running board don't match perfectly as they are made from 4 old 2ton short running boards- there 66'' long and finding about 10 cabover running boards would be near impossible.i ran out of mig wire so didn't get as much done today as i wanted. i'm off to the portland swapmeet wednesday so i'll finish this up when i get back.
