I grew up driving in snow on bias plies. I'll admit tho that I ocassionally think it might be a good idea to swap those 11" wide radial T/A's for some snow tires.:p
First 1/2 of the winter is pretty good. You just have to make it out of the neighborhood to the main drags where the city plows. They run the plows alot leading up to Christmas as all the city workers are after the extra overtime for Christmas shopping. You get 1/2" of snow on a Sunday (Double and 1/2 time) and every plow and sanding truck the city owns is out all day. After Christmas the plow budget is spent and you couldn't force the city workers to get their butts out in that shit even if there was money in the budget so it just keeps getting deeper till March or April.

Before the Chevelle, my last year round car was a stock Model A Roadster. Driving in snow and ice doesn't worry me. What worries me is scoccer moms on the phone while adjusting their makeup in the mirror pulling out of Walmart in a MAV-Unit. (MAV-Unit for those not from around here is a Mormon Assault Vehicle. That's a 4X4 Suburban with 7 to 9 kids in the back and 2 oblivious soccer moms in the front).

I always try to use my next donor vehicle or engine for a winter beater. I work all the bugs out of it then strip in down to the ground. This winter beater is a 65 Valaint and is mostly made of bondo. The drive train will go in a 34 dodge 5 window in the spring. It still gets lots of attention. I even took it around Watkins Glenn NY race track for the Historic Zippo Lighter Vintage Races intermission laps in between main event races. We actually got a bunch of stuffy vintage car guys all worked up doing some funny shit. I'll post that story another day. Bone Daddy www.elrodshotrods.com

naa, it doesnt look like youre too low, my frame is only 1 inch off the ground.

as long as the lowest part of the vehicle is no lower than the rim when tyre is inflated, then youre fine.

This was my snow cutter for some time....ended up giving it away to my cousin due to lack of storage, and just got it back, so it will hopefully get put back into winter duty. Needs some brake work and a motor/trans..and to erase the "ratrod" thing alittle. Really nice because of A. it is heavier than hell and B. isn't worth all that much so the salt/scratches etc wont really bother me!

Ok ok I know...I know. It's newer than '64. But something terribly cheap yet dependable DID fall into my lap. 1968 Ford Country Sedan. Yep. It's got some issues, but I like it anyway. Interior is damn near perfect and it runs good. Got it a couple weeks ago and been takin' care it's problems gettin' it ready for daily use.

Dropped it down this week. Can't go any lower without major clearance issues. Might need to add some air shocks in the rear...maybe a steel blade for spoiler up front so I can plow as I go. Hahaha

Well it should with those nice new tires ya got on there! :D

Heat not so good? Damn. I didn't think it was doin' too bad but it wasn't really cold yet. Bet it's better than the '62! That'ns got no heat to speak of.

This wagon cranks it out pretty good, but it's a huge cavern to heat up so it takes a while to really get comfortable.
