i posted this picture a while a go wanting to know if anyone could put dimensions to this drawing or provide me some plans or sketches to help me build my own rpu in this way... but unfortunatly no-one could give me any [IMG]
Ive looked everywhere for dimensions and dont have access to a real life one to take measurements from. The plan is to have the body ready to fit onto the frame by the end of summer. Any help would be much apprieciated...
    Cheers ...will

Jeez Rookie, you must stink real bad or something cause NOBODY wants to talk to you. haha

I don't see why a scale model wouldn't get you at least in the ball park.

Take measurements with a set of calipers....

I would think that using the measurements I posted, and basically guessing about the rest, you could build a cab.

I wish I had one here to measure for you.

I've scaled models in the past for my mockups and it's a pretty good way to get reasonabally close. The Revell 1/25th scale '28 rpu measures across the back of the cab at 1.870 which calculates to 46 3/4".The cab length measures out at 1.980 which scales out to 49.5

I've got a '29 RPU (same thing). It's in real bad shape and rusty to boot, but I should be able to give you ballpark figures. You've got dimension #5 and 6 in the '28 drawing, right? I'll see if I can get you the other figures this weekend. It's stored at my brothers place.

Try these . The images are really freakin big - like 1.5 Mb each so I wouldn't lose any detail. If they are too big let me know and I can resize them and send them to you. Hope this helps.

That's not an RPU (roadster pickup), that's a closed cab pickup, it's a 1930 (totally different from a 28/29), and it's in aluminum. My RPU has no top at all, and the windshield is not where Ican get to it. However, I was able to get most of the of the dimensions. They are as follows:

    1) 36" I subs***uted centerline from the back of the cab to the top of the dash instead of the top because mine has no top.

    2) non-existant

    3) 41 1/2"

    4) 24" again, no top so from bottom of door to top of dash.

    5) 35" from door hinge to cab back.

    6) 16" from door hinge to firewall.

    7) my paper says 36 1/2 but that can't possibly be right. I'll look at it again tomorrow.

    8) 44 1/2" across at the gas tank/firewall seam.

    9) 5" radius approximately, but the top of the cowl is more elliptically shaped than a radiused corner.

Hope this helps a little. I'll try to remember to measure #7 again tomorrow.
