I don't know if you guy's will dig this or not. but I had a bent up 32 frame left over from a junk 32 Tudor I cut up for parts about 10 years ago,. I straighten it up and put a front and rear end under it, then a really rough "gl***" 32 roadster body turns up about 30 miles west of me. It was never glued togeather but all the pieces were there and it was CHEAP. I make a deal on the body and,..... " Instant Decoy ". in the spring I have in the past pulled this up next to a tree so you could just see it from the road, layed old rakes and 2x4's on it and let the gr*** grow up around it and cut the gr*** around it. shure enough during vacation season I will hear brakes,.... a car will pull in the driveway and the fun begins. I string them along for a little while until I see there about ready to come out of there skin, then I let them off the hook, and clue them in. One guy offers me like $500. bucks for it, so I look him in the eye and say " But where would my cats live?" ( I never let that guy off the hook. Here's the Decoy,.......... It's kind of like Von Dutch's vision of the far side of the moon.
that is great. you just got to spray the body in that iron paint so it has some good rusty look to it.
Cool...you need to add a gigantic strip of fly paper so you can keep score. When I was a kid hunting for '32's in hopeless places, there was some kind of big agricultural machine like a combine (I never knew or cared exactly what) that had a section of sheetmetal curved exactly like a deuce deck lid--I found dozens of those damned things in Mississippi and Alabama.
You Are Sick.....I love it....I have thought of piecing together something similar to put on the roof of the shop, but that is even better....You Are Sick !!!
You're just down right mean....... Wish I had something like that to put next to the T sedan in my back fence row. Buwahhahaha
That's really cool.......Fat***whitewalls has an old chevy truck sitting by the road at his place in central Missouri...pull into his driveway and as you head for the house, there are more and more old cars and trucks sitting next to the loong drive all the way to his house....makes ya crazy!
Dude, thats cruel!!!! Now i know what i must look like wandering up to the doors of folks to ask about "that old car out there". good joke though.
evil, yes...very evil, i like it. but slather some paint on it just to complete the effect. great story.
Dude, next time someone pulls in to ask you about "that old car", pull out the shotgun and give the old girl a blast of buckshot, the look on their face would be priceless !! TREE
Of corse that's cold,..... there's snow on it. What I was going to do ( but can never seem to find time for ) is hang the doors and deck lid, fix the rockers and rattle can it with Krylon "semi-flat" and paint it up like a old salt flats racer, was even thinking of talking to the sail co. in East Tawas to see if they could sew me up a suedo taneau cover. now that would be cold !
Hahahaha yeah! Or, when someone wants to ask you about it, just be like "I can't stand this piece of trash anymore!!!" and start wailing on it with a baseball bat.
OMG. That is the coolest ****in thing EVER! I'm workin' on an old lady right now to sell me her perfect 5 window. Now I'm thinkin' SHE'S working ME!!!
People bug the **** out of my grandpa for his 35 and his A sedan. They come in thinking he's just a dumb ole' man. When they ask how much, he'll always say something like, "Well, I turned down $500 about 40 years ago...." Or, "A man would have to come up with at least $800 if I were going to sell it.......but I'm not interested in selling it....." hahahah, just like 800 is big dollars! See, his place looks like h*ll and most think he doesn't have a pot to pee in....... that's cool!
I have to admit that the roadster just might be the coolest of all when it comes to decoys or yard art,,,,here's a photo taken last summer of our Model A. HRP
Yes .........but it looks WAY COOLER at almost dark....... HRP has the headlights working .....( kind of on dim ) and it is just too cool at dusk...
You gotta let your fellow Michiganders know where this illusion is!!! I dont want to risk driving off the road or strained neck muscles for a plastic car!!
Where does Gramp's live? There's a old fella in South Lyon, Michigan, with a Model A sedan and a '36 Ford touring sedan in his driveway. They haven't moved in the 12 years since I first saw them. I asked about them once, getting the usual 'not for sale'. Steve
