Well, the name is Chuck. I am from Washington, Illinois. I am 21 years of age. I am currently on a hiatus from my higher education. In the mean time i drive a semi-truck. I plan to go back to school fall of '06. I got into hot rods through my dad and uncles. Dad still has his high school 1957 Belair that he used to drag race and is starting to restore. One uncle has an Opel Kadett that he built a tube ch***is for and made into a drag racer. Another, known as "Torkwrench" on this very message board, has a restored '55 210 and '60 Impala. He also has a few others in the works. From growing up around these men, i recieved enough influence to keep me away from the Fox Mustangs, Third Gen. F-bodys, and imports that are popular a**** people my age. Instead i own a 1955 Chevrolet 150 four door sedan. I bought it stock with the 235 straight-six and a three-on-the-tree. With help from Dad, I rebuilt a 283 for it and swapped in a Munice four-speed. The motor is bored out to 292. The bottom end is made up of a stock forged crank, **** rods, and Keith Black pistons. It has Edlebrock Performer RPM heads, Edlebrock 600 carb, and an Edlebrock Torker intake. I forget the cam make and specs, because Dad ordered parts (he's the one with the credit card). but i believe the durration to be something like 300 total and 260 at .050. Lift was like .488". He described it as being "Similar to the '375 horse 327' cam." The car's got Hedman headers, Thrush gl***pack mufflers, a Hurst Compe***ion/Plus shifter, and Stewart Warner gauges. After the third blown rear end i am currently putting together a rear with an Auburn Positraction with a 4.56 gear. Dad says the cure for my blown rear ends is in my driving style, but i see a stronger rear end in my future.
