you guys should hear all the comments I get when people see what I am building. Especially my family. Thats ok, when she's runnin, and screamin it'll be worth it.
Sometimes you just gotta bang your head, like whenever Dokken or Ratt comes on, Plowboy knows what I'm talking about. Jake
Hmm. Maybe I lucked out. My dad likes the Chevy I got enough he wants to drive it when it's ready to go. But when he was younger he had a '38 Studebaker 4dr for a driver, around 64 or 65 I think. I'd say he wants to drive it when I put it on the road, but I did that already because the neighbor is the one who is a jerk. The letter from the town also said something about running a business out of a residence. I didn't move or change a thing except put plates on the car, and I never heard anything after they came and inspected. Guy's retired, you'd think he'd have better things to do than clench his ass until his head swells up. But then he doesn't even mow his own lawn, some lawnscaping company does it. Now ours is the same size, I can do it in an hour with a push mower, and we don't have a pool taking up most of the useable part of the back lawn. So yeah, sometimes I have to just shake my head too.
haha my dad has never understood why i "ruin" all my cars by lowering them. he says but they were just fine the way they were why would you do that. he is a engineer for gm so i understand he doesnt know what it means to make things look better my mom is a hotrodder so she digs it. never complains about riding in my junk and goes to shows with me in her camaro. Luckley most of my "ricer" friends dig it too. they love riding in my 50 while i drag the back bumper around. Lower the better right
I hear you rustynewyorker. The funnything here, my Dad is PAYING somebody to build him a 65' mustang from all new parts *(yuk). Me, I'm building a 51' Chevy truck, by-myself. I don't know........I just get a lot of satisfaction when I am sitting there in the shop, smokin' a smoke, drinkin a coffee and looking at what I just accomplished from 10 hrs of work. She's going to be good !
my old man thinks i need to put holley pro-jection on my 54 dodge, but ive watched the man make a sandwich by peanut buttering the butt end on the hard side.
doing a 68 stang right now, dont dog the new parts they are alot of fun to work with instead of making every damn piece like usuall, and they are cheap as hell to i got both full quarters for only 150. build a couple rusted pieces of shit and youll know what i am talking about.
You'll feel different about those *imported* 1/4s when you start trying to make the lines look right or when they rust out in a year.... ;^p ~ Paul aka "Tha Driver" America - made in China! :-(
If you really want to get them shacking their heads, try building an EDSEL !! I'm always hearing what the hell is wrong with you?? you gone daft or something? why would you quit working on that awesome 55 Chevy youve had since highschool to work on a car that was F---ing ugly from brand new?? You know I'm not always sure my self, except that I'm almost positive I well have alot more fun with the Edsel with less then $5000 in it, then I well with the 55 that has almost bankrupted me, I got all caught up in the it has to be perfect sindrone, then 48HEMI, meatclever, Safewaysam and a few others showed me that driving the shit out of them is alot more fun then just showing them, so I'm hoping when I let dad drive the old edsel and then the 48 chevy around town some he well see why I built the Edsel. Build it and the y well come !! AROUND edsel
the lines are perfect , and these are like 20 guage it will take a year in a half to 2 years. before they rust out
I think I've heard some of them. Like when are you going to put windows in that thing? Or, when are you going to put upholstery in that thing? Or, you're kidding! The doors are bolted shut? hey it drives and I'm having fun, but since it doesn't look like a "rat rod" people are alarmed, dazed or confused, by the way it is 'finsished' or unfinished, dependent on your perspective. You havin fun with it? yes? Then stuff em! :-D
I like the one where you over hear someone looking at a car at an event. The car has a blown big block, huge tyres, not a panel or a stitch of the interior remains original and they say sumthin like, "They didn't come in yellow originally" ...........Huh? Pete
Casey, thats great to hear. I didn't mean to strike a nerve. Hope everything works out for you. BTW, thats a good price on those parts.
