First, nobody run there mouth off about the term "rat". Anyway, lemme see some pics of folks that did some old school style bikes. Not neccesarily bikes that are actualy 50-60's vintage. I was talking with pOrk and saw his 78 honda 550, and made me want to do up my 74 cb450. Anyone else undertake a low budget oldschool bike?
I always ran "Rat Bikes" that was the term before anyone ever heard the term rat rod. They were normally barebones, no chrome nuthin' that wasn't entirely required. In the late '70s and early 80s they actually started haveing a class or award in most bike shows for "rat bikes". The high roller guys started building show bikes and just not painting them. Hmmmmm a lot like todays high zoot rod dudes. I got pics but no scanner.
I heard about this place called the Jockey Journal maybe you shoudl try over there. And just because you say don't give you shit about the term rat is like asking for it. So who cares who you talked to or whta you say you obviously have some kid of attitude problem....
only reason i put that little disclaimer in the thread is because i didnt want my thready getting overrun by people arguing over the term rat. Ive seen a handful of threads go down like that. Its not that i dont care, i understand why people can get upset by it, but i think this is a different situation. Its not like im blasphemizing (is that even a word) traditional choppers or something, i just want an oldschool look from a slightly less oldschool bike than some of the real old triumphs and harleys guys have.
Just a real looong guess, but might it be this???? First line, first post: "First, nobody run there mouth off about the term "rat"."
Can I run my mouth about not trying the search function? How about the fact that there are a handful of "show me........" post daily? Can I do that? Is that ok? (at least you spelled old school right)
my searches seemed to either not work (school computers suck) or not always give me exactly what im looking for. Figured it couldnt hurt to ask, but it seems that actually getting a response regaurding the TOPIC of a thread is a little tougher than it seems. Thanks to those who did respond tho.
here, here , here http://www.chopperunderground.com/forums/ http://cyclexchange.net/ http://www.ratbike.org/ i dont care what term you use, a bike is a bike and it is almost 2006 anyways.
