OK. What are these grille teeth?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rustynewyorker, Dec 6, 2005.

  1. Turns out the '56 Safari I have been selling pieces off from since May was a mild custom of some sort. It had these teeth added to the grille. There were 5, the 5th one I pulled a while back and not sure where I left it. They fit the contour pretty good - until I looked at some pictures of other '56s I didn't realize they're not factory. JC Whitney or something? No visible markings on them.. one large bolt to mount, back is open. Small, like 3-4 inches tall. I actually went to sell them for the restorer guys, but obviously none of them will need these things.

Looks like someone took some 60 Chevy bumper guards and added it as grille teeth. Chevy made them for the front and rear bumpers, mostly seen on Impalas though.

Could be 57 or 58 Dodge Custom Royal.

  4. Yeah, either-or although I might lean toward the Dodge. Here's what the '60 Chevy pieces look like... I can take one and go compare to this car, once I brush off about a foot of snow.

I found a pic of a '57 Dodge Custom Royal, but it's a bad angle. They look rounder than these are, though.

    Thanks guys -
