never in the flesh, but I have stared at pictures of it long enough to burn it into my brain. simply beautiful
Here's a pic of my Dad with his 30 coupe. I think this was in 65 or so. We're still trying to locate the car... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72733 Please PM me if you have info as to the were-abouts.
my favorite old picture. my favorite flathead powered hot rod. A smoke break from working on the Cad mill circa 1953. (not me)
40 Ford with a Caddy at Bunker Hill Indiana, probably late 50's. This same car spun out and knocked down the timing tower at one point in it's career. The owner did about 60 engine swaps in the 50's. I'm hoping to get him to do one on a 51 Mercury.
has anyone run one of the 4 engine cars at any of the vintage drags?...damn! that must be one hairy ride.
Didn't someone post some photos of the restoration of that car a while back? I've posted these before, but what the heck. Here are a couple of shots of my Dad and his customized '55 Chevy in '56. I would love to find this car... McCulloch supercharger installed by Bill Waddill...
Those pics sure bring back memories. Jack Monaghan and Ron Ford were my heros! I spent every Saturday night with my brother. Dug dirt out of my ears for 2 days!
My dad's 47 Ford, Circa 1965. I'll post some of his other cars later... Note: this is the car that wound up with the dual quad 301" chevy from the '56 below
Here's pop's A. First pics '63, then '65, then '73, last is now. Check the hot 4 when he got it! And the dodge said "catch us if you can" on the side. The coupe body rode home with the firewall resting in the bed, body up in the air, and dad's '53 vicky in back with 2x2's flat towed the frame.
Her are some pix of my first roadster taken in 1959. '30 model A body channeled over a '32 frame, Z'd in the rear. Body was molded to the frame at the firewall, trunk lid molded, windshield stanchions molded to body. Pontiac taillights, headlights stands made from fender supports, all chrome dropped axle, springs, shocks etc. Bonneville racer George Imaizumi built 296" flathead, Edelbrock heads, Winfield cam, Kong ignition. The picture of it with the chrome wheels on the back was taken at the '59 Bonneville meet. (friend Jerry Cunningham wiping it down) Mick

Ok, here's some more from the album. The '54 chevy was my grandmother's car. My dad, a teenager without his own car, customized it a bit. Grille, side trim, solid red taillights, chrome aircleaner and a 2 barrel on the 6. The '56 chevy had a dual quad 283, punched to 301. Hurst 4 speed. Had an engine fire. The motor wound up in the '47 Ford I posted above, the rest of the car got sold. Last seen about a year after he sold it, driving around with a rusty hood from where the paint burnt off Corvette was a '62 fuelie. Sold in '73. Probably still around and probably worth about 10000x what dad sold it for. Desoto in the back was a hemi, it was the shop car at the gas station he worked at. The '57 was a 6 stick old lady's car. Dad put in a 327 4 speed, drove it daily till he married.
